Or the fact the US & UK ally with Saudi Arabia. I’m also not a fan of Assad.

      That is all.

Christianity, Muslims. Jews and all faiths worship together in peace (Syria), not radicalized extremists (Saudi Arabia, Israel, and the Evangelicals that control the US military)

I’m not a fan of Israel either. There is a reason why a Shia Alawite is in charge of Syria a largely Sunni population and you have Kurds in the East. It goes back to Sykes-Picot.

Ever since the civil war/proxy war Assad has been a human rights violator.

@jonLP: are you saying that the US is not a human rights

violator? Assad’s government was attacked – a secular

government-, just like the one in Libya. You may disagree

with all heads of all governments in their efforts to keep

their own government in power, but that does not in any

way stabilize the geopolitical situation, nor does it excuse

the destructive role the US plays in the ME.

I don’t compare Syria to Libya.

I don’t think Gaddafi is as bad as the House of Saud or Assad.

Goldman Sachs Sued for Selling Libya Billions in “Worthless” Options

Goldman Sachs, the Wall Street investment bank, is being sued in London for selling Libya “worthless” derivatives trades in 2008 that the country’s financial managers did not understand. Libya says it lost approximately $1.2 billion on the deals, while Goldman made $350 million.

At the time, the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), which invests profits from the country’s oil and gas exports, had assets worth $60 billion under former dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Goldman Sachs convinced LIA to buy long-term call options on six companies: Allianz, a German insurance and investment company; Banco Santander, a Spanish bank;  Citbank, a U.S. bank; Électricité de France, a French state utility; ENI, an Italian oil company; and UniCredit, an Italian bank.

What the Libyans did not understand was that if the stocks in these six companies did not rise, their investments would become worthless. Instead the LIA executives were taken in by a trip to Morocco as well as “small gifts, such as aftershaves and chocolates” and an offer of an internship for Mustafa Mohamed Zarti, the brother of the Libyan fund’s deputy executive director, in Dubai and London.

“The unique circumstances allowed Goldman Sachs to take advantage of the LIA’s extremely limited financial and legal experience to deliberately exploit its position of influence and to take advantage in a way that generated colossal losses for the LIA but substantial profits for Goldman Sachs,” said LIA Chairman AbdulMagid Breish in a statement.

I’m critical of what the US did in Libya.

Until the US cleans its own house, I’m not much interested in smaller human rights violations by other countries, especially countries the US is so obviously attempting to destabilize or overthrow.

Particularly considering the massive human rights violations of US allies Israel and Saudi Arabia in the same region.

So much hypocrisy, so little time left.

Saudi Arabia is trying to win over Iran’s allies which is what is going on with this story.

The US & UK is also responsible for Saudi Arabia who is a major human rights violator.

There would be an enormous and enduring humanitarian crisis. If a government orchestrated that and allowed the crisis to happen then that would be a war crime. Hillary Clinton earned her war criminal label, as I’m sure her partner(s) in the Obama administration did as well, along with her partners in Italy and France. And that was just for Libya. They all doubled down by cheering on their “good terrorists” to render Syria into chaos, with the resultant, predictable, large scale death, destruction, and misery. But on the left we now have a pro war wing, one that sees the silver lining in war crimes, and exults that a glass ceiling is broken when a woman can commit them. But hey, it all happened under President Obama, so you know it had to be sanctified.
