this isn’t much of a trump hate site. If you really hate trump, you go over to a place like SV.

@njcher that’s the reason there are fewer posters here than there were on Friday…also the reason that there have been fewer posters here every week for the last year.

I think it’s because we’ve got the weirdest “campaign” season I have ever seen. Joe Biden isn’t available most days, and rarely answers questions when he is briefly visible – and its being ignored.
Other topics are falling out of the news – not much on protests any more, and certainly nothing on candidate’s policies.
Question coming up, though, as I’ve been think of this ridiculously quiet “campaign.”

@polecat hollerer
you’re saying people have been leaving jpr because this isn’t a hate trump site (which means they’re migrating to trump hating sites?)
and the reason some regular faces haven’t shown up since trump got sick is because this isn’t a hate trump site? (so they hated trump and moved on to hate him more since he got sick?)
that doesn’t make sense to me; maybe i’m missing something
(esp because the folks who are no-show didn’t seem to be trump-haters at all)

It’s ugly and counterproductive. Logically, rationally, ethically, it makes no sense to feed hatred.
If you are a member of a cult, then yes, feed the hate until you are deranged. Ergo, get your kicks and energy somewhere OTHER than JPR, because … that’s not what we do here.

Worked on a project from home for most of the weekend. And when not doing that, worked on the stuff that needs to be done at home. Speaking of which, the vegetables roasting look to be done.
As for me, I’d like Rumpy to live, with suffering (yeah I’m a bad person). Long enough to lose everything and end up living on the streets in a cardboard box along with his sociopathic family.

You can see a furious amount of activity at Bradblog, in terms of news and controversies and conflicts reported.
We all know about the attempted monkey wrench in the Post Office via the Orange Feller and minions. There is a lot more going on if you want to know about the rules shenanigans being pulled by state officials, uncertified new machines being re-loaded with new code to fix a “bug” and then being put in place without certification…I think that’s Georgia. Touchscreen-only state for non-absentee voters?
In other words, daily drama as Trumpians try to “win” the swing states the usual ways that I think swing states have been won since 2000.
In general I agree with not letting Orange Buffoon dominate too many news cycles with his having the plague or not. Except if he does, it may turn out he’s not the Rethug candidate on election day. And if he doesn’t, his act may be part of an “escape route”, which also may mean not much more of Orange Executive…if he’s not fit to campaign, is covering up Alzheimers or something.
So there will be this rigged election, one way or another, which none of us feel we have any control over. The opposite of democracy. Meanwhile there are important issues not to be distracted from: The Mitch agenda: Supreme Court and whatever else he has up his sleeve. The rain forest, the arctic, the plague, the macro-economy–they are being touched on, here, in recent days.

When knowing who is liking the Posts, then I could set up Friend Requests because we like the same kinds of posts or agree with the poster most of the time. Just seeing the number of likes gives me some motivation but I feel like the site is drifting to an air best suited for the casual reader. Do I really belong? I hope so as I am learning so much and respect each person here.

I think for me there is just an over whelming feeling of what our future holds. Trump being given covid by a nut case judge or at her little party where piles of people were exposed. Then Trump going off on a campaign event knowing full well he was sick just sums things up about american leadership! He is the mirror but man it is depressing. My whole family wants to get out of the country but that costs a lot of money. So sometimes I just have to go a get into the out of doors

There are a few posters who post every day. They keep the site alive. The rest of us post intermittently and enjoy the site.
That ‘other’ site has a lot of posters of many appendages with a sock on each.

I can’t be posting as much as I did during the dog days of summer. I have to get the brassicas in so that I can have a nice crop of kale, turnips, broccoli, and mustard this winter. I’ll bitch more about the Orange Baboon once the planting is done.

Hi cmt,
Posting less simply because electoral politics and the two-party duopoly are a lost cause in America. Have already voted by mail and there really is not much more to say about Biden/Harris or Trump/Pence. In the end the 1% always win and the 99% always lose. Better to spend valuable time on activities and projects that are healthy and beneficial.

the website had some technical difficulties with Android phones. I expect things will pick up gradually.
Biden isn’t doing much that is newsworthy, and you can only dwell on Trump’s illness for so long.

the news is just plain depressing. This election is all about how the media presents the candidates – not about their records and how they will impact the country, if either survives to the inauguration.
It’s all Joe is nice and Trump isn’t. I don’t care. I want to know who will rebuild America and improve our standing in the world.
And I don’t think it’s either of these two geezers.

To tell the truth, finding good articles to post is getting more difficult. A lot of sites are adjusting to lower donations, reporters are doing fewer interviews, and the quality of writing has decreased. Some sites are trying hard to provide content, it is more difficult these days.
It is like some days I want post, ‘There is no real news, just speculation. So I am enjoying the day and taking a much-needed vacation. Have a good day!’
Also, I like comment on what I post. Since I have worked in the media, hospital, and couple major corporations, how many times can I say, ‘it has been trending this way for a while now…’

I am here because I believe myself to be a Progressive, not a fake one like Hillary.
I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils-I simply can not do that to future generations.
I wish I had more to post…I DO NOT want to see JPR wither and die on the vine.
I would bring other Progressives here…if I knew any but everyone I know is either a Democrat or Republican.
Everyone I speak with from either side share in the attitude that Progressives are unrealistic nuts.
I disagree, I think folks at JPR have the best grasp on reality, period.
That is really why I am here.
Interestingly enough, folks from both camps think that my 100% VA Health Care coverage is great but they do not see it worthy for the general population.
You folks think it would be very worthy for the general population.
To be honest, like you folks, it is also hard for me to watch as the conditions for human survival deteriorate…
…to watch that deterioration go unnoticed as supporters for the red team and the blue team stay only focused on the titanic struggle to dominate each other.
Here is the thing as I see it: The sky IS really and truly falling, JPR sees it but outside of our bubble…
…well you know the story.
I dunno, if there are other sites for Progressives, perhaps we may consider joining forces should our numbers dwindle to non-viability.
I hope it never has to come to that.
In the meantime, “keep on keepin’ on” JPR.
Furthermore, please accept my most profound thanks to each and every one of you.
Thank you for being so important to my worldview.

as many left/progressive radio shows. Progressives are not driven by hate. Hating on Trump (and Putin, and Bernie) has gotten repetitive and as boring as reading Freepers. All the vote for the blue stuff is being rolled out, and the “Bernie/famous person SAYS”, as if progressives really believe the Democratic Party swill and cannot evaluate things based on records, deeds, and now – outright fucking promises. We have gone from Hillary’s private face/public face leak to Biden’s – fuck you, NOTHING progressive, and kisses to Wall Street out in the open. All that seems left, really, is waiting to see which bowl of shit “wins”. Really, I don’t care about the polls – they were wrong last time, and I have no dog in this fight, anyway.
I am here now mostly for the music, for the funny, for the science. If I want to read hate or long-winded screeds that end up with vote for the blue or whatever, I would still be reading SV. I did like the likes for posts, but I do understand that the housekeeping is prohibitive. And I think action is going to replace talk, sooner or later.
I do get a lot of my news here, and I appreciate that. Simple as this – anyone who wanted me to vote for Hillary, and wants me to vote for Biden/Vichy Dem, and scorns Melania as a prostitute, is not worth the time it takes me to read that shallow hypocritical crap. Anyone who screeches about Trump doing the same fucking thing as Obama is not worth my time. Anything that uses DNC-style political identity crap like gender, age, and state is not worth my time. Anyone who does not see that Pelosi/Schumer really work for the GOP/their owners, and control Democratic votes and bills in Congress, is not worth my time. Pelosi has already said no to earlier stimulus because it would be a campaign issue. Casually dismissing people who are struggling. Vote to give that thing even more power? Not worth my time. Lots of fabulous posters here, not much fabulous to post about. And Trump being deposed is not going to make anyone’s life better – Biden has promised that, for fuck’s sake – so some days all seems pointless.

And the technical issues, especially the really bad ones of a few months back, didn’t help. Judy Lynn, for example, posted a lot of science stuff and hasn’t been back since.
Then throw in the pandemic, the Second Great Depression, and no doubts lots of major disruptions in people’s lives, and it kind of figures.

@hobbit709 I can only go back to 1980 on that score, but I feel you. And not in the way Biden would.

That being said(all the Above) JPR is my home I get up in the morning go for a walk and read the news on various sites and save JPR for last! Sometimes I can’t wait that long and I cheat. JPR is where I find a comfortable group of friends who do not think I am crazy for my political thoughts. At least I don’t think you do lol

I Detest BOTH candidates and couldn’t care less what either of them has to say or what they do, where they go, how their campaigns are going, whether they have good or bad poll numbers or whether either has COVID-19. They’re two of the worst most boring presidential candidates ever. And honestly, both parties are the same, so nothing either of them does is going to benefit the people, so they’re pretty meaningless too.

I read the news every morning. Then when I’m ready and can stand it, I go to JPR for the REAL NEWS (from people who see the world similarly to how I do). I can’t do this site every day: the truth makes me too angry; so some days I have to step away, altogether.
tRumpty Dumpty was a mean old prick.
tRumpty Dumpty got himself sick.
Many from JPR ran away, afar . . .
So they wouldn’t call a dead man a “dick.” (It’s quite tempting, you know.)PS. I am the third person in this thread to request bringing back the names on “likes.” While you’re at it, bring us back a Greatest Page, pleases.

I’m faced with voting for two evils (again!), with no viable third choice. I’m sad that Bernie once again let these people get away with stealing the nomination from him, with nary a sound. I don’t care what he says, I wont vote for Biden. I’m old and sick and I don’t trust either one to help me, or at least let me hold on to the little I have (just over two years until Medicare, if I live that long).
To be honest, I see no good future going forward. This country — and the world — is going to have to fall all the way to the bottom, with all the suffering that entails, before we even try to build back up. If we can. If there’s anything left. Anyone left.
The feeling I’m living in a very bad post apocalyptic novel gets worse every day. I’m saving up for a new tin foil hat, but the good ones ain’t cheap, ya know. Plus, they’re made in China, and you know how that goes.

Been posting less lately because I’m even busier.
Not to mention this whole election cycle just feels like there is no point. I already know who I am voting for, and honestly bashing on Trump’s stupidity gets old quick.
