Despite the lack of evidence that Russia was behind a massive hack that appears to have targeted several US government agencies, US senators are calling for retaliation against Moscow, even likening the cyberattack to an invasion.

“This is virtually a declaration of war by Russia on the United States and we should take that seriously,” Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) said in an interview with CNN on Wednesday. On Thursday, Durbin called for a response against Moscow on the Senate floor, describing the hack as a “virtual invasion.”

“No, I’m not calling for an invasion myself or all-out war. I don’t want to see that happen, but it’s no longer a buddy-buddy arrangement between the United States and Vladimir Putin,” he said on Thursday. “When adversaries such as Russia torment us, tempt us, breach the security of our nation, we need to respond in kind.”

Biden likely has a VERY busy first week lined up – austerity, war, you know – all the things he said he would do!  Maybe veto a stimulus bill until he has time to understand it, that sort of thing.

They cried “Wolf” so many times with unsubstantiated, unverified, and sometimes false claims about “the Russians” that some day, maybe, eventually, the accusation will be a major concern and most people won’t believe it.

I think political leaders who say such things out loud, in public, are literally insane. We have an inordinate number of crazed sociopaths organizing American society.

And I never misuse the word ‘literally’.

Democrats support for globalism means they would prefer to keep hostilities with China to a minimum so that trade and exploitation of their zero labor rights (and nearly slave salary levels) workforce can continue.

But Russia provides the enemy needed to keep military budgets and aid to allies high.

It also takes attention away from the true enemy of the people which are the plutocrats themselves.

The U.S. can always bomb Iraq without any consequences (at least not to the important people). Doesn’t matter what the problem is or where it originated. Just bomb Iraq.

P.S. Iraq, just in case this doesn’t translate well, it involves sarcasm.

The appropriately named Senator from Illinois, Dick, accepts bribes from the MIC. He’s being a good boy for them. Can’t risk their stock portfolios being deflated by any risk of peace.
