WASHINGTON — A senior Trump administration official has embellished her résumé with misleading claims about her professional background — even creating a fake Time magazine cover with her face on it — raising questions about her qualifications to hold a top position at the State Department.

An NBC News investigation found that Mina Chang, the deputy assistant secretary in the State Department’s Bureau of Conflict and Stability Operations, has inflated her educational achievements — like claiming, falsely, to be a Harvard grad — and exaggerated the scope of her nonprofit’s work.

Whatever her qualifications, Chang had a key connection in the Trump administration. Brian Bulatao, a top figure in the State Department and longtime friend of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, attended a fundraiser for her nonprofit in Dallas and once donated $5,500 to her charity, according to a former colleague of Chang’s.

Chang, who assumed her post in April, also invented a role on a U.N. panel, claimed she had addressed both the Democratic and Republican national conventions, and implied she had testified before Congress.

On her LinkedIn page, Chang says that she graduated from Harvard University in 2016. While on her official State Department biography, Chang is described as an “alumna” of Harvard Business School. Speaking to NBC News, a spokesperson for the school says that Chang attended a seven-week course in 2016 and did not achieve a degree. In an April 2019 Instagram photo, Chang is shown to be wearing a Harvard hat.

Chang also attended the University of Nations, a Christian school that is staffed by volunteer teachers. Chang said in a 2014 interview that she has a degree in international development from the University of Hawaii. Chang added in that interview that she first became interested in music while in college and began by writing songs in Korean.

Chang also says on that page that she is a graduate of Southern Methodist University. Chang also writes at length on her LinkedIn page about her work with the United Nations. In particular, Chang says that she worked with humanitarian relief in the organization.

Chang’s official State Department biography says that she is “a graduate of the United States Army War College National Security Seminar.” NBC News reports that the program was a four-day seminar on national security.

      University of the Nations

The University of the Nations (U of N) is a Christian university with branches in 600 locations in 142 countries, providing programs in over 100 languages around the world.[5] Its largest locations are in Kona, Hawaii (US), Jeju, South Korea, and Perth, Australia. The University of the Nations operates under the umbrella organization of the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) network.

University of the Nations is not accredited by any recognized accreditation body. As such, its degrees and credits may not be acceptable to employers or other institutions, and use of degree titles may be restricted or illegal in some jurisdictions.

      Youth With A Mission

Founded in 1960, the group’s initial focus was to get youth involved in missions. Today, while maintaining its original youth-oriented ethos, the group has expanded its membership to those of older ages as well. The organization currently has tens of thousands of staff (called “YWAMers”) working in thousands of teams and locations.[citation needed]

Founded by American missionary Loren Cunningham and his wife Darlene Cunningham in 1960, YWAM’s stated purpose is to “know God and to make Him known”.[1][2]

In 1989, Sara Diamond’s book Spiritual Warfare mentioned a meeting in the United States between various Christian leaders (including YWAM Founder Loren Cunningham) and Efraín Ríos Montt, who led a coup in Guatemala from 1982-1983, implying a connection with Christian evangelicalism.[106] Diamond also suggested that YWAM “sought to gain influence within the Republican party.”

In 2009, YWAM was linked to property used for hosting Bible studies, prayer meetings, and as boarding facilities for members of the US Congress.[107]

Are there any in the Trump Administration that has a respect for honesty?

I would like to remind you that U.S. health insurance companies do not contribute anything to health care. They are only a PARASITIC middle man receiving an undeserved cut of "FREE MONEY".

        @enthusiast

Some of the more honest ones quit because of Trump’s total corruption, dishonesty, and complete lack of integrity.

Trump fired most of the rest of the more honest ones who didn’t quit, because he relies on his loyal dishonest fascists to protect him and assist him in moving his fascist agenda forward.  I’m sure any of the honest ones left must have a plan to stop Trump from destroying our country.

If anyone wonders how Hitler and his supporters came to power and then did all the horrible inhuman things they did, all they need to do is watch how Trump is deliberately and systematcally dismantling what is left of our democracy while replacing it with authoritarian fascism.

        Cult of Personality

A cult of personality, or cult of the leader,[1] arises when a country’s regime – or, more rarely, an individual – uses the techniques of mass media, propaganda, the big lie, spectacle, the arts, patriotism, and government-organized demonstrations and rallies to create an idealized, heroic, and worshipful image of a leader, often through unquestioning flattery and praise. A cult of personality is similar to apotheosis, except that it is established by modern social engineering techniques, usually by the state or the party in one-party states and dominant-party states. It is often seen in totalitarian or authoritarian countries.

        Sound familiar?

          Thank you, ravensong.

I do understand the dangers of Trump. My study of WWII history is mostly focused on the European Theater. However, this nation was in grave danger before Trump even set foot in the White House.

Consider the start of the 21st Century. The fascists faked the results of two consecutive presidential elections. They staged the 911 event. With the assistance of a corrupt media and fake “opposition” party they falsified excuses to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Looks to me like Trump is just a bit clumsier than his predecessors.
