This mom, who is evidently some kind of celebrity, went skiing with her baby attached to her in some kind of kid carrier apparatus. Now the interwebs are filled with condemnations from everyone from other moms to “experts.” I just love it when people condemn others for exposing their kids to DANGER because skiing or whatever they’re seeing is something they don’t understand. These are the same people who load their own kids into the Lexus and drive 90 mph with earbuds blaring Celine Dion and a Starbucks in one hand. These are the same people who lock the baby in a hot car because they don’t want to miss the big sale at Shoe Barn. These are the same people who… oh never mind.

My parents didn’t much give a rip what I did as long as it didn’t involve having to buy me new clothes or the police coming to the door.
So I can now look back at my childhood wistfully and with wonder that I survived past the age of 5.

Alan Watts was a philosopher who delved into mysticism and drugs. Alan Watts is also a rock climber who pioneered many routes at Smith Rock in ventrl Oregon. I guess either one could have made the quip, but I assume it was the philosopher, not the climber.

Times have changed. When I was young we used to go to Action Park, Vernon, NJ. Kids used to get hurt there all the time. Some died. (I got hurt there, too).
They called it the “World’s Most Dangerous Amusement Park”. There was a movie about it.
Here’s the Youtube Trailer…

From there, I could reach the power lines to the house. This was before weather heads. The wires looped through insulators and were wrapped back around themselves. The cut end of the wires were exposed. I touched the end of the hot wire and did not like the feeling. I was smart enough to not try that again.
A lot of us are lucky we are still here.
The 55 gallon metal barrel? The trash people would come get it from beside the house and haul it to the trash truck, empty it and put it back again. Try convincing them to do that today.
We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.
If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.
