“Unfortunately, there are now some on the left who have adopted this despicable tactic and continually demonize a particular group of people, millionaires and billionaires. Just like any other group there are good people and bad people among them. Not all are bad. Not all are good. The bad ones deserve everything said against them. But the good do not. There are many good people that have achieved wealth honestly through hard work, creativity and innovation. They do not deserve to be demonized. Painting a group of people with one broad brush is wrong whether the right is doing it or the left and it should stop. ”

And my response from years earlier.

“No one becomes one of the 1% without destroying untold numbers of lives of other human beings. Our systems are designed to obscure and shelter people from this basic truth.

Our system is corrupt and sociapathic to the core.”

Yes, that is one bizarre stance.  Billionaires equated with immigrants and LGBTQ and people of color.  “First they came for the billionaires, and I said nothing”.  Maybe Bob Dylan can change the words to “I Pity the Poor Immigrant”  and Joan Baez can sing about the poor billionaires.  If this was not at SV, I would think it was satire.

Everything I post is just my opinion, and, honestly, I would love to be wrong.

I saw that. It’s particularly silly coming from people who cheered on the condemnation of “deplorables”.

… or, for that matter, “Bernie bro’s”.

Okay. Just tax the evil billionaires. Offer a big exemption for niceness. That might stimulate a move to pay employees a living wage, not move banking offshore, deal fairly with unions, etc. I could go for that.

Taxation doesn’t equal demonization. Taxation is simply a way to achieve a more just and equal society. We need health care for everyone, and we need a Green New Deal. And to pay for those things, we need to tax those who can bear the burden with the least difficulty…
