No other way to describe the US as other than a pimple on the face of life.

South Carolina lawmakers have passed a bill to allow inmates on death row to be executed by firing squad in the absence of lethal injection drugs.

When signed into law, it will make South Carolina the fourth state in the country to offer the option as a method of capital punishment.

Opponents criticised the new measure as “medieval” but its supporters say it is about bringing closure to victims.

The southern state has not held an execution since 2011.

The legislation passed by the South Carolina House of Representatives aims to restart executions by bypassing the difficulties states face in procuring the drugs for a lethal injection cocktail.

      Link to story is here.

A beheading with a dull axe is not only gruesome, but also likely to cause the person to be executed a lot of pain. Get with their people.

It’s probably more humane as long as the blade is sharp, and everyone should be forced to be a part of it.  You want executions, own it and don’t pretend you’re civilized.

Iron maiden? Burning at the stake? What’s next? The medieval mentality seems to be making a comeback with the taking over of states by these republican reptiles.

Let’s take a reasonable look at this, please. As long as states

have the right to execute someone, they also have the right

to choose the method. The main issue is the death penalty

in itself. I don’t know of any way that the Federal Government

can stop it, but am open to suggestions.

in 1976. The first to get executed under the ruling was Gary Gilmore, who had been convicted of murdering 2 people in Utah. He opted for execution by firing squad, which was granted.

We shoot them and bomb them. We starve them.    All the fucking time.   CMSU that the US is all panties in a wad about Navalny’s hunger strike, when the US  considers babies and children who starve to death because of our sanctions as merely collateral damage that were useful in getting what the US wanted.

Not done in secret like the government is ashamed or trying to hide who it is they are executing. If you’re going to have the death penalty, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with firing squads, and I’d much rather stand and be shot than strapped down to a table and injected with a drug cocktail through a fucking needle.

If nothing else, those sentenced to die should have a choice.

In short, no outrage here. We need to bring firing squads back for oligarchs, anyway.

with public executions, like it has so often in the US and elsewhere.

        I’m against the DP.

Some people here are as radical as Hillary Clinton.

I’m against the death penalty and prefer it be abolished, but progress is progress.

If the state must murder people, I’d rather we use a method that kills people instantly/nearly instantly, rather than force them to endure the agonizing torture lethal injection can subject its victims to.

This is actually more humane, something to consider before you reflexively lash out at this being a descent into barbarism.

Not long ago there was a case where a death row inmate requested to be executed by firing squad. It went all the way to the supreme court, and the right wing court denied his request. For those who don’t believe it unless it comes from  a democrat,  it should be noted that Sotomayor dissented from the majority opinion, arguing that the firing squad is more humane.

One of the big reasons why she didn’t support Hillary Clinton is because of the DP. Bill Clinton also attended an execution in 1992 to show he wasn’t like those Northeast Liberals.

Surandon was also part of the film Dead Man Walking where they choose an obviously guilty person to make their case against the Death penalty which isn’t easy to do.

It is easy to use an innocent person to make a case against the DP such as Ray Krone.
