SSI, SSDI, veterans – still waiting on stimulus

At first, I wasn’t worried about the wait. If I recall correctly, it was signed by Biden on March 11. So, most of the people I know have gotten their stimulus payments. Tens of millions haven’t – and the reason? As I’ve been checking the updates on this… apparently the SSA (social security administration) was asked two weeks prior to the signing of the bill to make documentation available to the IRS for payment. That documentation only became available a few days ago – on Thursday. Normally the SSA does a lot of work with little funding and staff, for which I’ve got to give them credit. This seems very strange to me though. No date has been announced, not even a guess as to when that might be available to people like me.

I don’t know who currently leads the administration, or what the issues are exactly – but according to the SSA this is now up to the IRS – and we aren’t supposed to call them. So, no clue, no way to find out. For some reason this isn’t making nearly as big a splash in the media as it should be.
I suppose its typical. When your income is a fixed 784 (something like that) from the SSA, you don’t exactly expect great things from government. Yet I don’t think its absurd to expect to be told what the hell is going on.

?
I know a couple of Social Security recipients who’ve gotten theirs (WA state). Maybe it depends on the state? @davidthegnome

I just did because we haven’t gotten ours yet, either. It says they “planned” to mail it last Friday, but doesn’t say whether or not it was actually mailed.

Dunno. I’m a Social Security recipient in Washington state, and i haven’t gotten mine yet.

If I understand correctly, those who filed taxes may have gotten their stimulus already. I don’t get enough in a year that I have to.
If I’m reading things right, about thirty million in that type of situation are waiting.

I was included on my grandson’s tax form as a dependent and I have already gotten mine. But I don’t think you should give up on it coming since you are going to get it because you are on one of those programs. They are just running late.
I just read that if we should be lucky enough to get the UBI through that some want it to come through Social Security while others want the IRS to send it. I think I will take the last idea.

In our case, my wife had no bank accounts in her name, not even a joint one with me, because she has student loan debt and is afraid such an account might get levied, so they send us checks, which take longer. I do know that it took longer for people to get the earlier stimulus payments if they hadn’t filed taxes in years because they had to file something with IRS to get them at all.
Exactly what that something is I am not sure.

I didn’t get mine yet either. I’m on unemployment but not SSI.

That when they passed the 600 earlier, I got it within a few days, but this one? I tried the tracking tool, which just tells me the IRS hasn’t gotten to it yet.
The SSA commissioner said something about not getting funding, but lawmakers said that was bull. So, I don’t know. Seems like there should be a way to at least make a report or something.

So far, I’ ve received the original $1200 and more recently the $600 both from President Trump’s tenure.
My unemployed neighbor received the $600 from President Trump a little over a week ago.
From President Biden, neither of us have received a red cent.

I do know that people who hadn’t filed taxes for some number of years, I’m not sure of the number, were excluded from the relief checks until they filed something with IRS. You had, so you didn’t have any problems. The magic number is at least three years, but no more than about six from what I do know.

Bwahahaha! Did a search on “stimulus April 7 SSI” – and the first two links returned are WaPo (which I consider as bad as Fox),and Fox8 news. I thought, oh, no, I will not give the WaPo a click, and then some people get vapors about any Fox links.

I expected that it would be here for this disabled Vet on or before April 1st.
Ha! The joke was on me. Very funny President Biden, very funny… or did you just forget about us vets?

Just tried calling the customer service number- there didn’t seem to be an option to talk to a live person. Figures.
I had a question.

Not that it would’ve matered here in my blue state…
…but maybe this disabled vet would’ve gotten that $1400 by now.
(note: I was being sarcastic. I wasn’t suggesting that my vote in this case was actually for sale!).
((A further thought occured to me…If corporations are people, doesn’t it stand to reason that JPR should get a fat stimulus check too?))

On this day in history, April 8th, eons past that date where candidate Biden promised us $2000, I got $1400 direct deposited into my bank account.
