“I am honored to be joining the board of Center for American Progress,” she said. “Led by the extraordinary Neera Tanden, CAP has been at the forefront of progressive policy development and activism for years. Together, we will find and support bold solutions on health care access, voting rights, the economy, and other critical issues our nation faces.”…

What the hell happened to Stacy Abrams?!? She is going to catch something BAD over there. Neera, et al, are toxic. Just. No.

There are many ways to exert influence. Some people do it by interpersonal communication and slow change. Let’s not underestimate Abrams’ influence on them.

Speaking as a Georgia voter, she really reminded me more of Hillary than anything else, relying on ID politics for much of her appeal. She was a better choice than Kemp (a rock would have been better than Kemp), but I had zero confidence in her desire to do anything other than use the Governorship to make her cronies and friends more money. It is a tradition down here!

It’s what I do with my union. I don’t agree with Randi Weingarten’s salary, but I don’t use that as a means to not do anything. I stay on my union’s executive board and work for change. I try to do it diplomatically. My gains are small, but at least I’m in there keeping an eye on things.
In addition, there are long-term projects on which I’m working that will affect how our union is run.

Hopefully like you Abrams has intentions of working within the Center for American Progress to change it for the better.
If the world is going to get healthier we will need to see things change from all perspectives and that can’t happen if we wall ourselves off. No situation is ever ideal or perfect so working within certain groups, companies, and institutions will be a big part of the change progressives desire.
Sometimes I lose sight of that.
Thank you for the work you are doing to make a difference in your union.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas
