    SUSAN SARANDON ENDORSES JILL!!!!

Recently, our campaign received a letter that made our day.

Susan Sarandon wrote to us, and has now officially endorsed Jill!

Because she knows what you know – that we must build a progressive social movement to counter both Donald Trump AND Hillary Clinton.

According to The Young Turks and the Washington Times, Ms. Sarandon said:

“They’re both (Trump and Clinton) talking to Henry Kissinger. She did not learn from Iraq, and she is an interventionist, and she has done horrible things – and very callously. I don’t know if she is overcompensating or what her trip is. That scares me. I think we’ll be in Iran in two seconds.”
And that is exactly what Jill Stein and Ajamu Baraka have been saying. And Dr. Cornel West. And Medea Benjamin. And Chris Hedges. And you. (Hey, you are in pretty good company).

Here’s the letter from Ms. Sarandon to our campaign below.

    ** FROM SUSAN SARANDON **
    Dear Jill and team,

I’ve been waiting for any indication that Hillary Clinton’s position on the issues that are most urgent to me, has changed. But …

She does not support the $15 minimum wage.
She shows no support for legalizing marijuana.
    She supports TPP.
She has sold fracking and Monsanto.
    She supports offshore drilling.
She has no position on the Dakota Access Pipeline.
She opposes the labeling of GMOs.
She opposes the breakup of big banks.
She takes lobbyists’ money for campaigning.
She opposes a binding climate treaty.
She supports unconditional military aid to Israel.
I’m therefore very happy to endorse Jill Stein for the presidency because she does stand for everything I believe in.

It’s clear a third party is necessary and viable at this time. And this is the first step in accomplishing this end.

Fear of Donald Trump is not enough for me to support Clinton, with her record of corruption.

Now that Trump is self-destructing, I feel even those in swing states have the opportunity to vote their conscience.

    Susan Sarandon

I kinda get the feeling that Jill is gaining support. I just wish there was another month or so to give Jill more time.

    1. Sarah

Silverman should be.  I know she won’t but she has to be just melting over all of this.

Wake up, peeps, their kids go to Harvard and Yale; your kids go to Iraq & Afghanistan.

    3. Good for Susan! Supporting Jill is the most pragmatic decision for progressives.

There’s a lot of fearmongering and ridicule directed at Jill supporters.

But if you have a progressive vision — indeed, a Bernie vision — then voting for Jill is the most sensible thing you can do.

It is definitely a vote against Hillary without being a vote for Trump.

But, more importantly, it is a way for progressives to stand up and be counted.

If you’re a progressive and you think that a vote for Hillary will further the progressive agenda, you are very much mistaken. It will only reinforce the illusion of a mandate for Hillary’s dangerous neoliberalism.

If you don’t like Hillary but feel compelled to vote for her in order to stop Trump, you are once again mistaken. This is Hillary’s election to lose, not yours. If she loses to Trump, it is her fault and the fault of DNC corporatist hubris. Don’t be blackmailed into voting against your interests.

The one thing worse than a progressive who naively votes for Hillary is one who votes for Trump in order to “send Hillary a message.” That message will be hopelessly, tragically garbled and you will be voting for a reckless, racist, sexist authoritarian who has no business (!!) heading a democracy. Just because Hillary is a truly horrible candidate (and she is), don’t be naive enough to think this Mussolini wannabe is better than he seems. He’s not.

This election is Hillary’s to lose. And she may just be crooked and incompetent enough to lose it. But I doubt it. The PTB and the corporate media will do everything in their power to put her in the White House. Regardless of the outcome, progressives will need to build a powerful, viable alternative to the two (arguably three) corporate parties. People who argue that the Greens should be organizing more on the local level are right. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stand up and be counted on the national level.

If Jill Stein can break through the 5 percent ceiling, it will jumpstart the nationwide movement for a progressive alternative and send a clear message to whomever is president that we are a force to be reckoned with.

      6. I'm kinda bummed that Bernie's supporters have been somewhat on the sidelines..

With the exception of Dr. West. At least the majority of them. I was also hoping Jim Hightower would join in too. Saw him when he intro’d Bernie back in May.  But he has been quite since Calif pulled the rug from under Bernie in June. Can’t think of any other supporters. Matt Damon I think?
