Syrian army: Israeli jet shot down, another hit

I know its Press TV but it seems the Israelis have acknowledged something happened  over Syria.

The Syrian army says four Israeli jets breached the Arab country’s airspace on Friday morning, adding its air defense shot down one of the aircraft and hit another.

Israeli warplanes “penetrated our airspace at 2:40 a.m. (0040 GMT) via Lebanese territory and hit a military target on the way to Palmyra,” said an army statement carried by state news agency SANA.

“Our air defense engaged them and shot down one warplane over occupied territory, hit another one, and forced the rest to flee,” the army said, apparently referring to the Golan Heights.

The Syrian army also slammed Tel Aviv’s strikes as “an act of aggression” meant to assist the Takfiri Daesh terror group.

the Israeli military acknowledged that its jets bombed several targets in Syria.

In a statement, the Israeli military said the Syrian air force fired numerous anti-aircraft missiles at the warplanes and the Israeli air force “intercepted one of the missiles.”

The Israeli military said it shot down one of numerous anti-aircraft missiles launched on Friday at its air force which was operating in Syria, in a rare such incident that spilled over into neighbouring countries.

The Syrian army said it had shot down an Israeli jet during the operation. Israel denied this, saying that all its aircraft had returned unscathed.

“At no point was the safety of Israeli civilians or the IAF (Israeli Air Force) aircraft compromised,” an Israeli military spokesman said.

Israeli media said the Syrian army had fired surface-to-air missiles at the Israeli aircraft. The military would not provide further details on the targets it struck, nor on the amount or type of projectiles launched at its forces.

    1. I'm so effing sick of the Israeli's. They do whatever they want whenever they

want. Including, along with the Saudi’s, running the US government.

      4. Yeah. Imagine a country doing whatever it wants

just like America’s endless wars in places far from our borders and no threat to us. Weird eh.

And those crazy middle eastern folks getting all mouthy about it. Totally weird.

        5. Just imagine what would happen when a terrorist org takes over a country

We don’t have to imagine, it’s already happened:

Having effectively taken over the Lebanese cabinet in late December, the terrorist group Hezbollah appears to be on its way to completely controlling the country’s political arena, David Daoud, a research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, wrote in Newsweek on Thursday

“Hezbollah is seizing the state’s institutions one by one,” Daoud wrote, noting the recent election of Hezbollah ally and former general Michael Aoun to the presidency, as well as the installation of key Hezbollah allies to the posts of justice minister and defense minister.

Following the resignation of President Michel Sleiman, Hezbollah refused to allow the formation of a new government unless Aoun was elected by parliament to the post. Opposing Aoun’s appointment was the pro-West March 14 Alliance, led by former Prime Minister Sa’ad Hariri. For two years, Hezbollah kept the country in political gridlock, until Aoun was finally elected in October.

          11. Just imagine a country

that isn’t a terrorist org. I guess that’s what Jefferson etc. were trying to do, no standing army etc., a social order that is not based on terror aka tyranny. Nice try, fail.

    2. This will be an excuse to establish a no fly zone.
