And anyone who still urges voting for the Democrats is either very stupid or very very duplicitous.

A corrupt joke of a primary system, Pelosi smiling as she deliberately introduces legislation that can gut social programs.  Not enough lipstick in the universe.

House seats. That doesn’t mean this political civil war in the Democratic Party is over. Far from it. This is just the next phase of it.

It wasn’t as if Medicare-for-All had a snowball’s chance on Venus until 2021, anyway. Or any other progressive legislation, which would never make it through the Senate, much less override a Trump or Pence veto. I don’t think this House rule matters all that much for this congressional session.

Will Pelosi introduce any legislation to gut social programs as you say? I don’t know. I doubt it, not with a presidential election year looming. Even Obama wasn’t open to that until his second term.

My congresscritter, Marcia Fudge, has absolutely no excuse to support Paygo. She calls herself a progressive and has one of the safest seats in the country. I will still be surprised if she bucks the leadership on this one.

I said a couple things, first

The single benefit of paygo is it is most certainly a progressive litmus test. It will clearly indicate who is a progressive and who is not.

I do not know if Ms. Pelosi meant to sever the progressives away from the establishment democrats this early; or if the is Teresa May level hubris. It will serve no purpose other than to strengthen the republican positions.

The current Democratic leadership are on the same side of the same coin, as the Republicans. It is a toss-up as to which side is the most corrupt and self serving.

We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.

It didn’t take long for Pelosi to start cutting off progressives at the knees…hoping AOC’s progressive bloc in the CPC works. This is no time to fool around.

I’m reasonably certain that nothing I say will even reach them, let alone make an impact,  but I will try.

Doesnt it just make you gag when the usual suspects go on about how “strong and experienced” she is?  Oh, so well qualified – and fund raising ability among corporate overlords and being a multi millionaire doesnt hurt either.

If the Democrats were serious about change – they would have chosen a different speaker.  Some tried, but were too outnumbered.

Republicans vote it down in the Senate and then Democrats can claim they tried not to blow up the deficit, but now they have no choice but to compromise with those feckless Republicans in the Senate.

So the wealthy don’t get their taxes raised too much, but instead just enough to keep them donating to politicians so that Congress stays reasonable.

And the Democrats in the House don’t have to explain why due to now being fiscally adult, the military still gets its hundreds of billions, but program XYZ that the 99% like has to “tighten its belt”.

Both sides get their scapegoats, and not much changes. No way can either side go into 2020 having capitulated to the other on the budget.

What will be scary for us is what they agree on. They love being the adults in the room regarding Social Security and Medicare.

I have to hope every serious candidate for the Presidency denounces Congress if it agrees on what amounts to cuts to those benefits that we paid for.

I contacted him before getting sworn in (had to do it verbally, website wouldn’t take my zip code.

It shouldn’t be this hard to reach out and slap someone who desperately needs it.

Hell, no... I'm not giving up...
