Tennessee lawmakers are considering a total ban on abortion by cutting off access to the procedure once a woman knows she’s pregnant. If the legislation is passed, it will be one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the United States.
State senators will reconvene this week to discuss a “fetal heartbeat” bill, which would prohibit abortion as early as six weeks into pregnancy. The measure was passed by the House of Representatives in March but stalled in the Senate.
More than 20 witnesses from both sides of the abortion debate will testify on the issue before the state’s judiciary committee on Monday and Tuesday. During the two-day session, the committee will also discuss an 11-page amendment to the original fetal heartbeat bill that includes a drastic change to the definition of fetal viability.
Under Roe v. Wade, the Constitution protects a woman’s right to abortion prior to the viability of a fetus. The Supreme Court considered viability to be the point at which a fetus can survive on its own outside of the womb, which is usually between 24 to 28 weeks into pregnancy.

That will work well.
I once knew a woman who didn’t realize she was pregnant until she delivered.

Well, colour me confused. Sooooo….as long as a woman doesn’t realize she’s pregnant, it’s okay for her to have the abortion? Hmm. I s’pose, bein’ a lady and all, I probably shouldn’t worry my pretty li’l head about it.

Catch-22. If she didn’t know she was pregnant when she had an abortion why did she have an abortion?
If she has an abortion outside beautiful and misanthropic Tennessee how will they know she had an abortion?
Conclusion: Tennessee is jampacked with idiots who spend way too much time being busybodies.

Busybodies for sure…and they are abusive authoritarians. We need to make the morning after pill and plan B widely available. These laws do what they always do, penalize the poor. Your Senators daughter won’t have a problem getting an abortion you can be sure.

Argue agains’t capital punishment this way from now on; it is a form of state mandated abortion at the “X” trimester (ie: the 63d trimester). The RWNJ’s can’t have it both ways anymore.

This sure is some kind of United States, isn’t it? At this point, I would like to see a spermatozoa examination upon puberty. That’s because… every sperm is sacred…
Hell, no... I'm not giving up...

When we were visiting the Arkansas state capitol, our guide explained (after we made our politics clear – and we were the only two on the tour) that republican state legislators there spent all their time passing laws on guns and abortion. They know many will be overturned in the courts but keep doing the same thing all the time.
Sounds like republicans in Tennessee think the same way
National problems (slavery/racism, income inequality, pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war) are not solved with more national sovereignty.

Why should we be surprised. They have been going after a women’s right to choose for years. This is the logical absurd conclusion.

If they get away with this, next they’ll ban contraception because that is interfering with God’s will, and repeal any domestic violence laws they have because women should submit to their men. That’s how these jackasses really think.
