The Latest: Family’s lawyer: Police tried to smear Jean
Updated 6:22 pm CDT, Thursday, September 13, 2018

DALLAS (AP) — The Latest on a deadly shooting in Dallas involving an off-duty police officer (all times local):

    6:20 p.m.

An attorney for the family of a man shot dead by a police officer in the man’s own apartment says a police affidavit shows investigators immediately sought evidence to discredit the victim.

Lee Merritt represents the family of Botham Jean, who was shot dead in his own Dallas apartment on Sept. 6. Officer Amber Guyger, who shot him, said she mistook his apartment for her own and thought he was an intruder.

A police affidavit shows that officers seized, among other items, 10.4 grams of marijuana and a marijuana grinder from Jean’s apartment. Merritt said that showed investigators were immediately looking for drug paraphernalia. In his words, “They immediately began looking to smear him.”

    1. If they wanted to find drugs, they should have checked the officer's blood.

Seriously- she entered SOMEONE ELSE’S APARTMENT and thought it was hers? How damn messed up do you have to be for that to happen? And why are none of the news reports even addressing this?

Trump is a fool who may yet blunder us into war; the Dems and the Deep State cabal would give us war by design.

    2. America made a huge mistake in letting organized crime take over law enforcement

Granted, nobody at the time wanted the ‘job’…but still, we are just now as a society coming to terms with legal organized crime units called police departments getting away with cold blooded murder.

And so what if some of them are ‘good’…I seriously question the percentages now that being a cop means you can kill people and go back to work the next day.

Oh sweety, no just no, when I or those of us here talk about the ultra rich - it is NOT you! Not you by a longshot, oh my God did you think...no way you actually thought we meant you? Lord, this country is full of rich stupid people and you seem to be one of the worst. No sweety, you are just a low paid pawn to those ultra rich we talk about. They are wrecking the world, you are an enabler and I understand not being able to sleep at night. I wouldn't either, selling out our future. You have kids right?

    3. There was absolutely no reason to search his apartment…

    beyond ballistics, blood spatter, etc…

I’d lay money that the new story will be that the cop smelled pot and started banging on the door and that he ‘lunged’ or ‘threatened’ her after he opened the door….
