The neolibs have lost their minds: debunking their talking points

Over the past few weeks, as yet another poll showing Bernie Sanders to be the country’s most popular politician is published, Democratic Party centrist, neoliberals and their Brock-loving sycophants have been spewing the most ridiculous talking points all over social media.

Some of it is downright laughable, but some of it is beginning to show the psychosis of a party in deep denial.

First, they think Bernie helped Putin.

They go after a female military vet for saying Joan Walsh was wrong to judge Ivanka by her outfit (and she was):

“Go Back to School, Little Girl”

And, finally, they are seriously spreading the talking point that Bernie is stealing Hillary’s platform. :roflmao:

Now, it should be noted that most voters probably would scratch their heads at these hilariously incorrect memes, but the sad fact is the media is controlled by large corporations who are supportive of Hillary’s neoliberal principles, so will never point the finger and laugh at this garbage.

What’s worse, is that the Brock-bot and willing HRC-fan dupes are spreading some false memes the M$M HAS picked up and we need to be prepared to argue against, such as:

    1. All of Bernie’s endorsements have failed.

This is a lie. If you look only at the four prominent special elections candidates, it is true, but that’s the not the entirety of Our Revolution and Berniecrats. In fact, somewhere between 60-65 percent of Bernie-style candidates have won nationwide – many of them in “Trump Country.” While it’s hard to pin down the exact percentage because these candidates are sometimes spread between Our Revolution, Brand New Congress, Justice Democrats and Berniecrats, a quick scan of the win/loss records of these candidates proves the percentage to be at around the 60 percent rate.

    2. Bernie will be too old to run!

While it’s true that Bernie will be 79 in 2020, it’s also true that he’s in remarkable shape. In fact, he’s in better shape than both Trump and Clinton who are younger than he is as evidenced by Trump’s weight and Clinton’s frailty exhibited on last year’s campaign trail.

It’s also true that Bernie’s older brother who, at 82, just ran for British Parliament last year and seems completely spry and competent in interviews, which proves the Sanders brothers are a healthy lot.

Also, Nelson Mandela became president at 76. Quite simply, age is a construct and doesn’t mean much if you’re healthy and have good access to medical care (like Bernie wishes we all had).

    3. Bernie is just like Trump!

While this likely was born out of the “they only support the white, working class” trope, the fact is that this is the stupidest Hillbot talking point out there.

Poll show that Bernie’s LOWEST support group are white males. He’s far more beloved by women and people of color.

You can post the polls showing he’s popular with nearly everyone, but beware: Embedded in this line of attack is that Bernie never did anything for Civil Rights since his protests in the 60s. This “what have you done for me lately” attitude is common, but also easily debunked.

Here is a list of Bernie’s Civil Rights chops:

    • Raising Money for Koren Orphans
    • Calling for Full Gay Equality 40 years ago
    • Condemned And Opposed Welfare Reform and Dog Whistle Politics under Bill Clinton
    • Was the only white legislator in Congress to support Jess Jackson’s presidential run
    • Was the only white legislator to regularly attend Black Congressional Caucus meetings, particularly those on voting rights.

Find some of these and more here.

    4. Jane Sanders is a Crook!

First, the most obvious response to this is a no-brainer: Jane isn’t the candidate, so what? But, because we love Jane, here’s some facts:

    • The Catholic Church has said they weren’t defrauded and ended up making more money on the sale than they thought they would, anyway.
    • The investigation was started at the request of Trump’s former Vermont campaign manager and all-around liberal irritant Brady Toesing, who’s had it in for Bernie for years.

That said, we should be VERY wary of this one and not condemn it as political shenanigans outright.

While I certainly believe that Jane did nothing wrong – I refer to it as similar to asking your friends and neighbors to pledge a buck to you for every lap you complete at the Walk-a-Thon, but having them renege when it comes time to pay, totally not your fault – but we have to be conscious of the fact that political elites on both sides will stop at nothing to sideline Bernie.

Luckily, this grand jury is convened in Vermont, where Bernie enjoys a 75-80 percent approval rating, so the people hopefully will see through this political witch hunt.

Now, I’m sure there will be more stupid memes and talking points as we move forward, but these are  just the few bigger ones I’m seeing out there.

We need to rid the party of these neoliberal centrist corpo-Dems and their idiotic talking points.

      1. Excellent – Stage 3 has been reached!

      First they ignore you  (check)

      Then they mock you (check)

Then they fight you – Ding!

      Then you win.

Love the delusional stuff about ‘Bernie stole Hillary’s (losing) platform.’

        2. This fight is just getting started, too.

I saw on this site that even Nate Silver believes Bernie is the 2020 Democratic front-runner, but that info just came out. I suspect we’ll be seeing far nastier memes and talking points once that piece of data-driven info settles on the neoliberals who control the party.

They probably will NEVER mention that Silver conversation, though, but they WILL know about it and will come after Bernie (and Jane) with a full-on vengeance like we haven’t previously seen.

That’s why I really worry about the Burlington College probe. If it was just the GOP pushing for this investigation, I probably would simply laugh it off as political grand-standing, but we have to acknowledge that the Democrats don’t like his popularity, either, and may actively (but from the underground) seek to push for an indictment.

          5. Love Bernie and everything he has done.

Nina Turner and others are already moving to center this movement around policy rather than politicians. The college thing is BS but tarring Jane with that brush will do almost nothing to stop our demands for Single Payer.

They have no good answers for why we can’t have better policies in this country so they distract with “Russia” and personal attacks. We win by changing the dynamic from a top-down DNC to a bottom-up issue-focused movement.

          11. Any grand jury will put this to bed in a hurry.

Not only Sanders popularity but someone from the Catholic Church (who could be the only victim) will say the church was not hurt at all and actually profited from what she did.  This will be a no bill.

          14. Nate Silver believes Bernie to be the 2020 front runner?

The great and holy Nate Silver?  Whatever will the Hillbot DUmmies do when they learn of this?

            15. I kind of think Nate was just getting the Bernie criticisms aired.

The answers to his questions were, I think, indicative of what the DNC hopes to do – “Bernie’s so OLD!!!!!” bullshit.

            • *Obligatory disclaimer - when I say "Democratic Party" I mean the DNC - the Clintons and the un-elected people and the consultants and the lobbyists and the corporations who actually run things.  The people who work and vote and are registered as "D" are no more the actual party than Trekkies are Star Trek.   Extra credit - the Democratic Party gets to actually fuck up your life. When you vote for it.
You think the only reason that people won't vote for a warmongering Third Way fracking-enabling cluster bomb throwing H-1B increasing lying pandering corporate and Wall Street shill who says she has no problem putting abortion rights on the table is because we are mad about Bernie?  Um, nope.

        7. I don't think I understand what you mean?

We need to be aware of the establishment’s propaganda to confront it.

This isn’t “spreading” it. Most here are aware of some, if not all, of it, anyway. I’m just giving us some facts to fight back with.

By doing so, I AM fighting the right. The right-wing who have infiltrated the Democratic Party since the 1990s.

      6. Yesterday – This Citizen Attended A Town Hall Hosted By Kirsten Gillibrand

Had a question prepared for the US Senator that languished for not being called by lottery number.

Spoke with a staffer after the event to discuss the Berniecrat – DNC Donor Divide.

The staffer was clearly uncomfortable with the topic and the related thoughts shared about Democratic Party reform.

Pressed very firmly that this divide and needed reform were not going away and the Democratic leadership ignores these issues at their own peril.

If the message was not heard it was not for lack of face-to-face engagement.

        8. They are scared stiff of this divide and refuse to face it.

They hope it will dissipate, but it’s not going to and, unless they face it head-on, they’re going to lose again in 2018.

          18. An unresponsive "leadership" at the state and national level

intent on the status quo and “Resistance” can be defeated by Bernie’s “political Revolution” at the grassroots as long as Berniecrats start now to take over the Dem Party from the bottom up.  As Napoleon said, “God is on the side of the big battalions” and while the 1% has vacuumed up much of the money, the gross inequality is coming to a boil with the 99%, who have the numbers.

It’s a matter of “Mobilize and Organize” to take back the party of working people and Old Dems like FDR, Harry Truman, and LBJ.  Once we regain control, there is no doubt in my mind that Bernie, as an Old Dem, would happily sign up as a member of a restored Dem Party.

          21. I don't see it dissipating.

It’s growing worse. Every time they launch an attack on Bernie or his supporters it just serves to widen the divide. They imagine they can brow beat us into submission, lol.
