The yellow vest protests have once again highlighted the pervasive habit of MSM suppressing or twisting information to avoid, in my words, giving the commoners ideas about reversing the devastating consequences of neo-liberalism. I periodically search the internet for terms about citizens being angry or protesting.
Tonight I ran across an article in The Atlantic. Though it is titled “The Real Roots of American Rage” and has a tag “Why is America so Angry”, to my mind it soft soaps the roots of rage in the US population. It does reference the anger against the state government and institutions in Oklahoma and West Virginia that triggered teacher strikes, but apparently finds nothing in the status quo to indict elsewhere.
After a rather long article comprised in large part of coverage of the Greenfield MA anger survey done by James Averill and resulting efforts by marketing firms to leverage the anger to benefit corporations, then the material on the teacher strikes, he gets to what I believe is the purpose of the article – communicating that being so angry that the rebellious want to destroy the system is a bad thing.
The Atlantic is not likely to be read by the lower classes who are feeling the ongoing wealth transfer. So is the author providing a pat on the back to neo-lib incrementalism, or are there previous adherents who are having second thoughts and need to be brought back into the fold?

We have seen the right’s idea of justice. “Jews will not replace us.” The Dreamers should be deported. Refugees should be put in concentration camps and then deported back the their home countries where they may well be raped or murdered. No criticism of Israel allowed. Just a generation or so ago, it was “segregation forever” and “Better dead than Red.”
Lock ’em up. Poor people are lazy. Give the rich all they want and if you work hard enough, you too can be rich.
No, the left has far more of a monopoly on justice than the right. That’s just a fact if you have any sense of social justice yourself.
It is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it.--Eugene Debs
Show me a man that gets rich by being a politician, and I'll show you a crook.--Harry Truman

Some egregious policies have been and continue to be enacted by or with the full throated support of Democratic politicians.

… which is unlikely these days…
I couldn’t agree more who uses anger to control the masses… Marketing! They are best seen through the eyes of a Bill Hicks monologue!
Meanwhile, we’re all supposed to curtail our long-acquired anger and channel it into something that makes the news without said protesters coming off as extremists. THAT’S a trick!
Hell, no... I'm not giving up...

There will be no media coverage regardless of how angry protesters may seem. Unless, of course, the media can dictate that the cause of the protests has been mooted because some protesters (or infiltrators) have damaged property.
