Computer and laptop with Win7 and IOS are fine.

Doesn’t matter if I use Safari or Firefox on my portables. No JPR menus anywhere.
I like to use my iPad for JPR, when I accompany my other half on her appointments. I can’t now. No menus.

      @sffh and @deadpool

Sorry, ‘Pool, but this seems to be a persistent problem for many members. I have Windows 10 on a Lenovo laptop and no such problems whatsoever.

Since I rarely use menus, it’s not a big issue, but they’re gone.

It doesn’t happen to a large segment of viewers. Just a few, which, unfortunately, you happen to be in.

NOTHING that I know of has changed in any display code. The same theme and base are the ones we have had since the latest version came online.

However, that being said, I find it amazing that it seems that I am the only person on JPR that still has nested replies. Perfect nesting. Up to five levels deep nesting.

Nobody else has nesting (that I know of) and that drives me nuts. How the fuck did I rate getting the correct display of replies but nobody else???

This problem is going to cost a fortune. Seriously. NOTHING that I have worked on to try and find the culprit works to this day. I just went through a small litany of things that could be driving this menu issue and I got the same exact results that I have gotten every time previously:

it told me to go fuck myself.

I guess I will have to have the hired gun try to find the culprit (which I just KNOW is gonna be Deadpool) and fix it. And that’s going to be very expensive because of the troubleshooting required which costs the same hourly rate as the fix it work.

Look for an announcement on this very soon.

On my computer, if I narrow the width of the web page, there reaches a point where the menus disappear and the header looks and act like my iPad.

And as for the other problem you mentioned, you are an administrator. Computer/servers respect those with elevated privileges, over the lowly rank and file. Sometime even when admin are logged on with their normal ID, the server still knows who you are, depending on how it is set up. IP address, MAC address, whatever, but they can know.

And as for the nesting replies, I can get it to work. I stumbled on how to do that a while back. Nobody seems to have noticed my replays which are nested.
I haven’t said anything, because I was waiting for someone to notice. But since you brought it up. The clue here is click on reply on whatever post you want to reply to. Wait for it to settle down, then then click on Reply on that post again. If it works, which it does most of the time, your reply box will be under the person you are replying to and not at the bottom of the screen.

I use to carry a little green Xcelite screwdriver, with a pocket clip, when I was working IT. I could preform magic just by waving it around  a misbehaving printer or computer. You might want to try that. But be prepared to use it on miscreant computers or printers a few times, before they get and spread the message.

But I am retired now and intend to stay that way.

And there’s the three horizontal line thingy, and the navigation tools are visible, and work.

Something for the tech gurus to explore, maybe, and now I know what I’d been remembering.

It shows it with both the desktop and mobile options. I’m installing it on my Pixel 3XL and … nope, still the same as with my other browsers.

Here’s a pic of my Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 with the Samsung browser. I pressed the menu so as to show it was active. And it worked when I used it as it took me to the latest posts on the boards.

Both home and laptop computers have Windows 10, but probably not the same version.

I’ve no idea what’s up. It runs on Android Ten, which while still the latest Android OS (until tomorrow) is pretty common. My Google Pixel is running the latest Beta of Android 11.

Snapdragon 835 in the Samsung, Snapdragon 845 in the Pixel.

I have Microsoft Edge on my tablet, and that too works. Maybe my android devices reveals their screen size, and that’s what triggers Go/No Go?

My Pixel 3XL has a high resolution, similar to the much larger Samsung, so that shouldn’t be a factor.

P.S. I’m on my PC now, and I see nesting.

      @sffh

There is a menu across the top, similar to JPR. When I narrow the width of the web page, It reaches the point where the menu disappears too.
I also have a three line icon, thingy, or what ever. But, when the menu disappears, this three line icon appears and when I click on it, the site menu does appear as a drop down menu.
On JPR, clicking on that three line icon, nothing ever happens. Doesn’t matter whether the menu is there or not. At one time I remember clicking on that icon and it did work, a menu did appear.
On my site, the three line icon only appears when the menu disappears when the screen width is too narrow to display the full menu. With JPR that icon is there all the time and does not work at any time.
I believe the problem lies with something to do with the customization to make this site work as it does.

Below is the URL of the site I mentioned above. I set it up just for something to play with. And as with you, updates messed up my customization. In my case it was the location of the pictures on the page.

I hope this information helps. If it does, a brown envelope slipped under my computer room door would be appreciated.

Or in lieu of that, change “Participant” to “Donor”.
      Thanks

I have noticed the lack of response on the menu icon. I am going to attempt to get the menu problem fixed along with several other glitches during the week.

The Participant to donor thing should be included in that as well, I hope. Curiously enough, the hook on the change in designation fails and there isn’t any reason that I can find why that would even be possible.

One thing still bugs the shit out of me about this.

It only seems to give a small minority of users any trouble. The menu thing.

Why? There’s gotta be a reason.

On my iPad and Phone, the width is restricted to below the width needed for the menus and I haven’t figured out how to make the contents smaller, so the menu fit in.

the bookmarks appear on the left side of the screen. The site screen stays the same size. I cannot resize anything. Nor get rid of the listed bookmarks.
So yeah, size does matter. 🙂

I normally use the Safari browser on my iPad, with the bookmarks on the left side. Most every other site work fine with Safari.
Anyway, I brought up the Ghostery web browser and the JPR menus are all there, as they are supposed to be. No non-sense to narrow the site screen size!

So the problem IS the site screen width and fixing the menu icon, the three line icon, would allow navigation, regardless of screen width.
So now I will use the Ghostery web browser for JPR. I am so happy.
I have to go lie down now. I hurt my shoulder patting myself on the back that I got something to work for JPR on my iPad.

Apparently for Apple users the Ghostery web browser from the Apple Store is the answer.
Even the menu icon works with Ghostery. It is the browsers for whatever reason why it doesn’t work.
