I know that I seem overly concerned with the extended farce going on in Arizona right now, but I am a little bit unsure of the qualifications of many of the people who are overseeing the counting of 2.1 million ballots from Maricopa County. Take, for instance, this gentleman who talked to Dennis Welch, the political editor at CBS5 in Phoenix. His name is John Brakey, and he is “investigating” “reports” that 40,000 ballots were flown into Arizona from “the southeast part of the world, you know, Asia.” Brakey is looking for telltale “bamboo” on the ballots, and I feel dumber just telling you this….

The Arizona Republic has provided helpful thumbnails on some of the other “officials” with leading roles in the farce. Take, for example, one Liz Harris, a former Republican candidate for the state legislature who runs a “voter integrity” website called itsmellsfunny.com…  Harris is hunting bigger game than tiny splinters of bamboo. Could it be…Satan?

In a live video on Monday, Harris said that she wanted to remind people that the audit was not about left versus right, but “good versus evil.” She held up a sign that said, “May Arizona be the first domino to fall,” referring to the effort to prove voter fraud across the country. She told The Republic that Republicans, Democrats and independents are involved in her group. The effort “has nothing to do with ‘Stop the Steal,'” she said…

Harris claims to be working with a guy named Bobby Piton, who’s also “working the data” from Arizona. Piton was one of the local roadies for Rudy Giuliani’s post-election Idiots Over America tour last fall.  He joined Rudy Giuliani and others to present election concerns to a handful of Republican Arizona lawmakers….The organizers say they’ve got 200,000 of the 2.1 million ballots counted. This could take them well past their purported May 14 deadline….

I saw posts on twitter w/ the right-wingers claiming this wasn’t a recount, it was an audit, unlike earlier recounts that were just recounts and not audits.

I don’t know what makes this count different and turns it into an audit, or why (whatever it is) is superior to the recounts that have already been done.

The Arizona Rangers, a volunteer-based, quasi-law enforcement organization that traces its roots to territorial days, has raised more than $163,000 as of Thursday afternoon as its members continue to provide security for the state’s controversial ballot audit.

The presence of the offbeat outfit is fitting for the bizarre spectacle unfolding in the review of more than 2 million ballots from the November 2020 election. Republican leaders in the Arizona Senate still miffed over Biden’s win have forced an audit of last year’s election results, though no evidence of significant problems turned up in Arizona. Senate President Karen Fann has said that Republicans won’t use the audit findings to try to overturn the 2020 election results.

The Arizona Senate brought in Cyber Ninjas, a little-known company hired to conduct the audit, and somebody — it’s not clear who — has ordered up the Arizona Rangers, too. Members of the group are helping with security at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, where the audit is taking place.

When the Rangers made the move to help Arizona Republicans with their audit, PayPal “shut down” their account for donations, according to an April 23 tweet by the group. The Rangers promptly opened up a GoFundMe account. (The PayPal problem was resolved on April 24. The company would only tell New Times that the “limitation” was temporary and PayPal worked with the Rangers to get it resolved.) In just five days, the group has pulled in $163,000 on the GoFundMe…The Arizona Rangers are a 501(c)3 nonprofit firm with 22 divisions, or companies, across the state….Rangers aren’t sworn officers, though they are typically former cops….

I lived in Arizona a long time and they have never existed. There is Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department and each city has their local city law enforcement. Outside of that there is the Arizona DPS which is highway patrol.

WTF was that loon’s name, Arpaio or something? And now people are looking for the Devil in the ballot box.

Perhaps a law needs to be passed to require the wearing of wide-brimmed hats when stepping out into the noonday Arizona sun. There seems to be an epidemic of sun-baked brains going on.

Later in the article, these so-called Rangers talk like they are on a secret mission. Do not get that false sense of oneself.

This whole event is nothing but a show for one person, and that person is Donald Trump.

Here is what’s funny about this whole fiasco, people have deluded themselves into thinking in 2016 the country liked Trump more than Hillary Clinton. That is not true, he lost by 4 million votes. What is true is there is an undemocratic institution called the Electoral College that gave Trump the election. More to the point, in 2016 the biggest voting block was the registered voters who did not vote for either for Clinton or Trump. Why the U.S. Political Class does not sit down and take that in is beyond me.

They are arrogant and entitled, you know, and that affects their judgment and perspective. We don’t live in a democracy, or even a representative democracy. We live in an oligarchy where elections are systematically rigged in favor of the ruling class, and there’s not even any way we can prove it, because it can be done through tampering with electronic scanners.

High voter turnout, however, could still, maybe, swamp the system and actually elect some sort of populist. Besides, whatever their lip service, most of our political class doesn’t want any real popular representation. And that includes faux progressives who talk a good game but never do anything to upset the real rulers of this country by like, you know, holding up Biden’s infrastructure plan if it doesn’t have a minimum wage increase in it when they have the ability to do so.

If they use reconciliation the Parliamentarian already ruled a $15 minimum wage doesn’t belong there.

You can call them fauxprogressives all you want but it isn’t fair or dealing with the political realities.

It isn’t even about forcing votes anymore because something like $15 minimum wage you already know how everyone voted and Progressives voted for it.

What do you do if you are elected, who do you caucus with, etc.

You fire the parliamentarian or get the VP to overrule her, and if Manchin and Sinema hold out you go to their states and incite mobs against them. Easily done.

This audit is one reason why Republicans are worse than Democrats.
