I don’t see how high school and college sports can survive the conflict of rights. Both sides of the debate have very solid arguments.

I have no idea what would be an equable solution.

Create two more categories – men who identify as women, and women who identify as men.

Unless transgenders have some other agenda, then that should work.

In short, they want to cheat. I know how I would have felt if my daughter had been into some sport and then had to face some transgender girl with mail muscle mass when it counted in that sport.

What sport was she in? let’s go with everyone’s favorite in this topic, wrestling! Just like professional wrestling (as in actual competitive wrestling, not the spandex theater kind – though even then!) varsity wrestling competitors are divided into weight classes. Schools also usually add age categories to the weight classes as well. This is done entirely to preserve fairness in the match and make it about skill. So the idea of a five-zero pixie going to the mat with a six-five meat truck is bullshit. Your daughter would be competing against someone of comparable age, weight, and muscle mass. Also for what it’s worth, co-ed varsity wrestling has been a thing for like, a pretty long time? Mixed-gender teams are fairly normal, and matches between cisgendered girls and boys not all that uncommon.

So what about team sports, like basketball? Well the important word there is “team.” No one person can win a basketball game, no matter what both “Space Jam” movies tell you. Even Jordan in his prime needed the rest of the Bulls on the court with him.

And the fact of the matter is… transgender athletes win – and lose – at the same rate as their fellow cisgendered competitors. Transgender athletes do not “dominate the field,” in any regard. They are at the same level of competition as their peers. The only notable difference is that when a trans girl (but never a trans boy, hmmm) wins a competition, sensationalist headlines explode. never happens when a cisgender girl wins either, ’cause no one really seems to care too much about varsity girl’s sports except for use as a cudgel against trans athletes.

Don’t exploit and insult your daughter just to justify your boring-ass bigotry, dude.

No other agenda!  Best way to get an athletic scholarship and take away that spot from a deserving woman.  Women are constantly losing their safe places to the transgender facists!

            “THE TRANSGENDER FASCISTS!”?

These are kids in school, you doofus. Take a breath.

After all, true fascists have no tolerance for LGBTQ folks. Indeed, they blame the ‘promotion’ of gay/transgender people on liberal/socialists

I’d rather not go into it, but I think it obvious. The narrative saying they are the same is false.

It makes no more sense than someone on the right calling them all “cancel culture ‘transgender socialists'”. Just as they would call gay student athletes “cancel culture ‘gay socialists'”.

Right-wingers usually don’t understand that. For that matter, neither do most liberals. You are dangerously close to calling me a Fascist because I disagree with this particular bit of the liberal culture war narrative, which is as silly as Republicans calling Joe Biden a socialist.

I’m not going to engage in this anymore on this thread. I don’t think it would do anyone any good.

We’re talking about one percent or so of the population. Even in a large school there wouldn’t be nearly enough people for one team to play one sport, and that’s even if we assume every single one of them is an aspiring athlete.

The amount of attention this controversy has gotten throughout the last several years gives the impression that something like half of today’s high school students are transgender. lol

we don’t just create categories for competition based on the physical attributes that actually most affect performance. Why should bits of flesh between legs or sexual preference or identification be the all-determining criteria in deciding who competes against who in figure skating or taekwondo? Instead of fixating on gender, why don’t we, e.g., focus on height for sports in which height confers a great disadvantage, or weight for those in which high or low weight confers an advantage, or perhaps even on hormone levels if that’s the major determining factor?

Destruction is easy; creation is hard, but more interesting.

It’s called “weight class.” School sports also add age divisions to the mix.

Also, funny fact; height isn’t really that big of a deal in basketball. it helps a little, especially with the showmanship angle of professional play (easier to do the dunks) but the fact is, Shaq and Yao lost often enough and Muggsy Bougues won often enough. It’s more about total athleticism and team coordination.

The thinking being that just because you stopped doesn’t do away with all the muscle mass you accumulated.

That was about steroid users who used it in moderation, which is why testing was needed, because they could credibly lie and say they never used steroids.

Lots of variations on that among sporting organizations, but a lot of people think the benefits from having trained for years with extra testosterone can last for five years or longer after you stop using. Especially among younger users, as they could gain in bone density and skeletal muscle at an important time in their lives.

the radical trans females are just as oppressive to women has men in suits are .
women are  now even losing control of their reproductive rights and their bodies as well as their sports, safe spaces.
if a female dares to speak up she is called a bigot and worse things.
I have never seen in my lifetime a group of people  trying to get their “equal rights” by removing or destroying another groups hard fought for rights.

a safe place isn’t safe if an a abuser can get access just by saying they identify as a women TODAY.

still feels like male dominance if you ask me.
