The president has repeatedly disparaged the intelligence of service members, and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades, multiple sources tell The Atlantic.

When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed…

Getting involved with the US millitary seems like a really bad idea and has been since Vietnam.  Becoming a soldier is just asking to be sent on some stupid “war” that isn’t ever really declared and is meant to secure oil or some other shit that the oligarchs want.  Or maybe it’s just to use up some ammo and equipment so a contractor can make more.

I was one of those poor drafted. Getting killed can be a matter of bad luck like driving over a spot where an IED or EFP is.

I know its hurts USA’s exceptional self image and insults the families of lost lives, but many have been drafted or joined because they are poor, unprivileged and with no better prospects. Basically they are societies ‘losers’, and those who volunteer are suckers too. Of course he doesn’t mean it that way though.

Bonespurs coward Trump knows nothing at all about war and the military because he was too much of a coward to go and fight in the Vietnam war. He talks big but when push comes to shove he hides behind people who are brave enough to risk their lives for American causes. Sometimes those causes are misrepresented but it doesn’t make those soldiers, marines sailors and airmen any the less brave. It takes more courage to stand up and go to war then it does to hide at home and insult those who do.

Were our grandfather’s and fathers who fought and died in WWII suckers and losers? They beat the hell out of the Nazis. Trump’s family never fought a day for this country and probobally had Nazi German soldiers in his family.

Yeah, all those dead WWII soldiers were losers in Trump lover’s minds. Such big losers that Hitler and his Nazi militias and German Armies got the crap beat out of them by those dead soldier.

Bunch of cowards trying to understand bravery is like a bunch of idiots trying to understand the universe. They always get it all wrong.

That was the choice given to the poor and minorities. Wealthy whites like trump, romney. dubya and bush sr. running mate who was so insignificant I can’t remember his name money bought a third choice.

The life insured being his own, of course. We all remember how Poppy tried to give himself a promotion, two months into the Reagan Presidency. Poppy wanted to make sure nobody did the same thing to him, and what better way to do it than to have a VP so fucking stupid that nobody would want him in the top job.

Never mind that his own son was actually dumber, but nobody would have even remotely considered the idea of Chimpy as President back in 1988…. hell, I laughed my pointy tailed ass off at the idea even when he started running for President in 1999

where the names of those Trump describes as “losers” and “suckers” are inscribed.

Fuck you, Trump, and I mean that most sincerely.

I take with a spoonfull of salt anything reported three years later the day after Trump appointed an anti war ambassador to Afghanistan. (or so I’ve heard)

Now I am seeing it be pushed by all the usual media suspects, I find trump an ass and could believe this if it were not being pushed so hard. I am not going to buy anything from the media about either disgusting candidates, both of whom never served the country in any capacity, except  sucking it for anything they could get.

And probably did, because he called McCain a loser. But what makes me suspicious is that they said four people witnessed the remark, but don’t name the attributors.

The media sets these outrages up and everybody is supposed to salivate like a dog.Everybody is supposed to be talking about it.

So it’s one more item about which I choose not to care. All he did if he said it was make explicit what Dick Cheney implied—that draft dodgers are smarter than the people who were unlucky enough to be called.

So according to Moon over Alabama.  Brannon talks about this in his book which is also what everyone else says who was their at the time. They did not fly in because of bad weather and went to a different cemetery the next day.  Goldberg is know to do this shit so I now just think it is more dnc stupidity.  Trump does and says dumb offensive stuff everyday why go for the lie.   The response at MOA is pretty much the dems are planning on losing

He said these things and anti-war Ambassador is Saagar spin.

I spend a lot of time fighting for the rights of others that I’m going to allow this one to offend me as a veteran who lost a friend in war.

      Fuck Trump.

Also Trump lied in his denial.

Fair enough.  Trump says crap all the time. So it really would be no surprise it he said this. The source, the timing, and the fact that everyone That was there in clouding a book, agrees including the pilots that it was the weather, makes the rest of the story a DNC plant story.  I guess I am pretty much done with unnamed sources, they have abused the right one to any times

The editor of the Atlantic story likely knows who the sources are. I know how journalism works and off the record stuff is more interesting than on the record stuff but reporters can’t report off the record stuff without burning their sources.

I do think the sources need to go on the record because both parties tend to dismiss a story they don’t like if the source is anonymous.
