BY JUSTIN WISE AND BRETT SAMUELS –

President Trump on Tuesday accused Iran of “orchestrating an attack” on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq after hundreds of protestors stormed the compound in Baghdad in a demonstration protesting U.S. airstrikes that killed more than 20 members of an Iranian-backed militia.

The president also called for Iraq to “use its forces to protect the Embassy.”

Trump defended the decision to target the Iranian-backed militia Kataib Hezbollah with airstrikes over the weekend, saying that attacks by the militia had led to the death of an American contractor.

“Iran killed an American contractor, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the U.S. Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible,” Trump said. “In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified!”

We can bomb whatever we want over there, but when they retaliate, they are at fault? They become the terrorist in their own country? Never mind we pretty much do what ever death and destruction we want, where we want?
    Something somehow doesn’t seem right.

We are an arrogant species, believing our fantasy based "facts" are better than the other person's fake facts.

If you are wrong, it will be because you are not cynical enough.

Both major political parties are special interest groups enabling each other for power and money, at the expense of the people they no longer properly serve…

Must disagree. Being persistent is different from being good.

What a load of horseshit. Those weren’t Iranians demonstrating in front of the most expensive embassy ever built and chanting “Death to America!”, they were Iraqis who want their country back. Most want all foreign influences out of Iraq, be that influence American, Iranian, Turkish, or Saudi.

Bernie Sanders will listen to them and try to have an orderly withdrawal. Trump will never pull all of our military and mercenaries out of Iraq.

So much for the orange asshat his followers told us was an anti-war President.

This shit is heating up.  Trump just made it considerably worse – and by continuing to threaten Iran, he gives them no reason to come to the negotiating table.  Iran is not Iraq – I dont think the chickenhawks realize that.

Their military may not be a match for ours in terms of conventional warfare – but they can bleed us heavily all throughout the region.  Russia and China may not engage directly – but they will provide funding and weapons, supplies and support.

So it is not just Iran that we need to be concerned with, but with two of the worlds nuclear armed powers.  Also Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and probably several others.  Eventually they will realize that uniting against us is their best shot at survival… and freedom.

If someone doesnt pull us back from the brink, shit is going to get a lot uglier.

Bring our people home, end the drone campaigns, let people live in peace.  Right now our wisest course of action is to withdraw, to come back home and rebuild our infrastructure… and to fortify.

This struggle cannot continue indefinitely.  There are not enough of us – certainly not enough military.  Our allies are as tired and as cynical of this war as we are.

Let it end, or it will end us.

    @davidthegnome:

Trump is just a trumpet. Do you really think that

the MIC permits him to make any serious decision?

Remember the truce, which Kerry arranged in Syria?

The military just interfered, and it was over.

Cheeto is facing (at least in theory) the possibility of removal from office. NuttyYahoo has already been indicted as a criminal, and is facing his third election in a year. Which means Israel can’t figure out how to get rid of his corrupt Russian ass, yet he can’t get enough support to form an actual governing coalition either.

The best solution for both of their problems – from their demented perspective – is to start World War III, and create the inveitable false popularity which comes with a “wartime” leader (see Poppy Bush, 1991 or Chimpy Bush, 2002)

There needs to be a very vocal and obvious public rejection of this dragonshit NOW before it gets off the ground. And beyond that, NO war should ever be started in the name of protecting fucking mercenary shitbags, who are the lowest form of mortal life on the planet. Or possibly second-lowest. Child molesters are still worse, but only slightly.

I didn't refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton because any goddamned Russian told me to. I refused to vote for her because she is a warmongering, election stealing, Goldman Sachs fellating, Republican WHORE. No offense to sex workers.

worst possible option = wider war.  who are our ‘friends’ these days?  seems like we’ve screwed everyone

the dumpster might do it to save his own ass but hopefully cooler heads would prevail — somewhere.

please bring president sanders & peace on earth.
