For once I totally agree with one of Trump’s decisions. Next, toss Pompeo!

Trump says he has fired Bolton as national security adviser because he ‘disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions’

President Trump announced Tuesday that he had fired his national security adviser, John Bolton, saying in tweets that he “disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions.”

“I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House,” Trump said on Twitter.“I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service.”

Trump said he would name a replacement next week, as the latest upheaval in his administration played out.

Well, I suppose the upside of this is that it means that Cheeto really doesn’t want to start World War III in Iran…. which is something Bolton was obsessed with more than anybody else on Earth, aside from NuttyYahoo.

Downside is that Cheeto’s appointments seem to get worse with every replacement. Who the Hell can he find that’s worse than Bolton to replace him??

I very seldom agree with Trump, but when I do, some neolib or neocon is always sacked or pissed off. This Reuters story has some funnies:

…Trump had sometimes joked about Bolton’s image as a warmonger, reportedly saying in one Oval Office meeting that “John has never seen a war he doesn’t like.”  By sheer chance if nothing else, Trump will actually say something that’s indisputably true once in awhile.

Officials and a source close to Trump said the president had grown weary of his hawkish tendencies and the bureaucratic infighting that he got involved with.

Bolton had opposed a State Department plan to sign an Afghan peace deal with the Taliban militia, believing the group’s leaders could not be trusted.

Sources familiar with his view said Bolton believed the United States could draw down to 8,600 troops in Afghanistan and maintain a counter-terrorism effort without signing a peace deal with the Taliban.

Of course! Bolton is always in favor of war and opposed to peace. Always. He no doubt has to think of his stock portfolio and sucks up to the defense industry more than he does to Trump, and you know how Trump is about being the center of attention. Oh well, good riddance to bad rubbish. Wonder which cable news network will hire Bolton as a “foreign policy expert” in the next few days or weeks?

Bolton had opposed a State Department plan to sign an Afghan peace deal with the Taliban militia, believing the group’s leaders could not be trusted.

And Bolton was proven correct by the attack on the day before the summit, which is why Trump cancelled it.  I bet Bolton did some “I told you so” gloating, then he was fired in petty retaliation.

Seriously, wanna leave Afghanistan?  Just leave.  The Taliban hates us and they always will.  Nothing good will come out of negotiations.

But it’s good for Raytheon stock! It prolongs the war, silly! We’re talking real money here.

IOW, I agree. We should just get the fuck out of there. There’s no shame in it. Empires have been getting the fuck out of Afghanistan since Alexander the Great’s day.

I too agree with the firing as much as I originally disagreed with the hiring. I guess Trump could appoint Hannity, but if not, I’d expect Trump would be off to Mar-a-Lago to find his next NSA goon. If he doesn’t dump Pompeo next, then conflict with Iran isn’t off the table. Besides, Israel is in charge of that future fireball anyways.

I would like to do a happy dance that Bolton is out, but my first thought was that it will be someone worse next.

Tulsi is the best.  Calling them neocons – she says words that NO ONE else in politics will use.  I love her.  Fearless badass.

    Yea, good riddance and all…

This leaves us with the obvious concern: who will replace him? Is there anyone out there who’s even worse than Bolton? Like some sort of neocon final boss preparing to morph into its final form…

Trump had no clue who Bolton was or what he represented. Guarantee he thinks PNAC is a video game. The bone spurs that supposedly kept Trump out of Vietnam are now floating around in that stupid head of his. He talks a big game, but when it comes right down to it, he’s not interested in starting wars.
