U.S. airstrikes hit pro-Assad forces in southern Syria, coalition says

The U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS says it hit pro-Syrian government forces near the border with Jordan that “posed a threat” to U.S. forces and rebel groups in the area.

The coalition statement late on Thursday says the coalition hit the pro-Syrian government forces after warning shots, a show of force and similar efforts by Russia failed to dissuade those troops from moving into the “de-conflicted area.”

The de-conflicted zone, agreed between the United States and Russia, is located around Tanf, where the borders of Jordan, Syria and Iraq meet.

    1. LOL

Illegal war? WTF is ISIS?  Where they invited by Assad?

Are they just misunderstood by the west?

      3. Assad is the legitimate ,elected ruler of Syria

You may not like that, but those are the facts.

We have not declared war on Syria. Thus it is an illegal war. You may not like that but that is the fact.

Or do you think we can just bomb anyone we want?

        8. I don't think that the US thinks that anything they do is illegal!

The bully rogue nation just does what it wants to do. Wonder how much ISIS profited as a result of our last strike!

        13. Assad is a dictator

The 2014 vote totals were fabricated.

Personally I think the U.S. and it’s proxies should leave Syria alone, but not because of illegality.

      7. The Syrian government is fighting ISIS

The US is sometimes fighting ISIS, but the US also attacks Syrian forces that are fighting ISIS. The US is also arming the jihadists that are trying to take over Syria and destroy Syria as a secular state. That would be a disaster for the majority of Syrians.

ISIS gets many weapons from the jihadists that we arm. The US has no right to destroy Syria. It’s an illegal war.

The US is deliberately destabilizing much of the Middle East due to several selfish agendas. That is evil. The US wears the black hats.

      11. "ISIS" is the current rationalization for US interventionism in the Middle East.

Our goal has always been the self-serving control of energy resources and their markets. The religious and political extremism is, in large part, a direct result of our activities there.

    2. They just have to have their starter war with Russia, don't they?

Entering a war in Syria that brings us up against Russian forces is like draping a length of fuse as a necklace around our own throats.  What a lovely sparkler.

    12. So ISIS wants to topple Assad and so do we.

    What an odd coincidence.
