Attorney General Merrick Garland has assigned the U.S. attorney in Chicago to review documents marked classified that were found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, two sources with knowledge of the inquiry told CBS News. The roughly 10 documents are from President Biden’s vice-presidential office at the center, the sources said. CBS News has learned the FBI is also involved in the U.S. attorney’s inquiry.
The material was identified by personal attorneys for Mr. Biden on Nov. 2, just before the midterm elections, Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president confirmed. The documents were discovered when Mr. Biden’s personal attorneys “were packing files housed in a locked closet to prepare to vacate office space at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C.,” Sauber said in a statement to CBS News. The documents were contained in a folder that was in a box with other unclassified papers, the sources said. The sources revealed neither what the documents contain nor their level of classification. A source familiar with the matter told CBS News the documents did not contain nuclear secrets.
Sauber also said that on the same day the material was discovered, Nov. 2, the White House counsel’s office notified the National Archives, which took possession of the materials the following morning.
“The discovery of these documents was made by the President’s attorneys,” Sauber said. “The documents were not the subject of any previous request or inquiry by the Archives. Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have cooperated with the Archives and the Department of Justice in a process to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives.”

Yes, Trump and Biden and Hillary all mishandled classified documents. You could argue “who did it worse,” or you can question if we really need a system that crushes ordinary workers who fall afoul of it while excusing the same “crimes” if done by elites.

Perhaps these ‘leaks’/’revelations’ are part of a scheme to throw Biden under the bus before 2024….Just throwing that out there – not enough details to make a firm assessment.
It’s not as if Biden isn’t ultra damaged goods and hasn’t made statements alluding to his intent to run again…..

There’s plenty of evidence he’s always been a disaster – it’s just a matter of how long the media is willing to continue to hide it.
I’m starting to see the media turn on Zelensky – if that begins to be shown as a disaster, how far behind could Biden be as the one who put it in place?

(i.e., former CIA analyst Larry Johnson) are floating around the idea that finding these classified documents is more than just coincidence….Listening to Johnson now interviewed by Alexander Mercouris, he suggests the Ukraine project is going to implode NATO…

They don’t want the economy to tank, but a stroke or a Hunter Biden scandal connection, fine.
He’s in such a decline that if the nominee he could take everyone on the ballot down with him. He starts slurring words, limping, stumbling about, and spouting gibberish, swing voters and Independents will bail on him, unless, maybe, their other choice is Trump. “Generic Republican” would likely get their vote though, in such a case.
Biden might want to run for the same reason Hillary Clinton did, and Trump does now. The DOJ gives lots of leeway to major candidates when investigating them, and if running for POTUS are scared of them exacting revenge if they win.
Biden could be terrified of what’s in Hunter’s laptops, and what he might say/plea to if threatened with serious time in prison, and he’d rightly assess that as nasty as it all might sound, the media, the public, and the DOJ, will care a lot less in another year or two.
Biden doesn’t have to win the primary, or even campaign, he just needs to look like he might for the rest of this year.
But imo, Biden looking like a credible possibility speaks volumes of how pathetic the Democratic bench is. Like when a Carnival Barker dominated the “best and brightest” of the Republican party in their debates for 2016. Biden looking like among the best the Democrats can offer tarnishes their brand. As does having to carry water for Hunter Biden. “Old news!”, “Nothing to see here!”, and my new favorite, “The chain of custody of the laptop!”.
They must yearn to just have it be “Yeah, Biden got old, but he’s out of the picture, and Hunter was a sleaze, but he’s irrelevant. Can we please talk now about something that matters to the voters?”.

It’s not likely that Biden will be able to hide in his basement during the 2024 election like he did in 2020.

Biden was questioned about the documents in some sort of press conference, and he just kept his head down and smiled.

Remember Cheney’s excuse for his vault?
All kidding aside, Biden took far fewer documents than Trump, but lacks Trump’s possible fig leaf of having been President, with the ability to declassify*, while he had that stuff packed up.
*There’s a process for that, but the courts might not see not adhering to a process as a crime, even if it gives the government the right to yank back from him whatever it wants to.
