The first time I heard of him was about a decade ago. It was the year that Beck won the Grammy for album of the year. Kanye’s girlfriend, Beyonce was also nominated for album of the year, and when she lost to Beck, Kanye openly threatened Beck. I don’t remember the actual words used, but I remember thinking to myself, “damn, you need a bodyguard if you get nominated for a Grammy now.”
