      Sooner or later we all sit down to a banquet of consequences.

      He literally lies about his civil rights record all the time. No group is a monolith.

      “Black people view Bernie Sanders the way the rest of the country views Marianne Williamson.”

      I’m a huge Bernie supporter, but I’m afraid this makes sense to me.

      Also, people know they may not in the best of situations, yet it is hard for them to change because all change in the past has been difficult and for the worse.

        @mrdmk I had a few problems with his generalizations mainly because when I was in the Army I knew quite a few African Americans from The South. The best friends I ever had were from Moss Point, MS Baton Rouge, LA, Marlboro County, SC and thy are not like his descriptions.

        The Clyburn endorsement was a big factor according to exit polls in South Carolina & many others vote for Biden similar reasons moderate whites do. Experience as Obama’s VP is a big factor even though ironically Biden was picked to appeal to working class whites.

          @jonlp I believe you are correct because there were more reasons than can mentioned in a couple of paragraphs why Biden won over Sanders in South Carolina. It was a death of a thousand cuts.

          Some of the big ones were: People in power endorsements, Media and their crap, Churches and their networks, People voting for a winner like they were going to get a prize, election manipulation through last minute poll closing, long lines, and purposeful confusion. Plus some people do not like change. Then there are people just being people.

          What is worse, this state generally goes for Republicans in the General Election.

            Also Sanders won the never or rarely go to church voters in South Carolina so I suspect churches may be a factor though I’m an athiest but I respect all religions except for the far right sects.

            @mrdmk @jonlp

            You betcha churches are a HUGE factor.

            Remember the movie Bill Maher made before he became an asshole? Religulous. Some can be seen in there. Some can be seen in S2E2 of the Sopranos.

      It explains so much.  The question is, who would they ever trust to change their lives for the better?  How can we get to that point?  I know their experience has brought negative results, but this will ensure that it stays that way!

      Never underestimate the gullibility of the American public.

      The critical thinking ability of the average American has degraded significantly over the last 50 years.

      for exactly the same reason. With Wallace he knew exactly how and how much Wallace’s racism would attack him. I can easily understand the thinking – Biden will lie to us and betray us, but in exactly the ways I expect. With Bernie I don’t know what will happen. Bernie will fail, but when and where he will fail is unknown, so the consequences of that inevitable failure are unknown.

      Barack Obama is the main reason for black support of Biden, just like over 70% of black Chicagoans supported Rahm Emanuel’s run for mayor, and 60% did in his re-election!

      All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.
