Oddly, everyone’s favorite presidents dragged us into horrible, bloody wars for no reason, got hundreds of thousands of Americans killed – as well as all kinds of non-Americans who would have lived happily ever after had we not mass-murdered them.

FDR and Lincoln and Washington are the most murderous SOBs ever.  Why do they get good press?

just civil war to maintain the unity of the country and ultimately to stamp out slavery. FDR led us out of the Great Depression and through a world war after we had been militarily attacked by Fascists who were bent on our conquest and subjugation.

Would you rather have had the Confederacy or the Nazis actually win? Because those are your only other choices.

we would not be here. So I will take the only wars that had real reasons for existing any day compared to the wars we have played at since the Korean War.

Killing iz good in some cases?

          Justice and morality and such?

BTW we would all be here even without Washington – assuming our mamas banged our dads.  Maybe we wd be eating scones and having high tea rather than burgers and fries.  Not something to kill over, though.  (Did Canadians kill to evade scones and high tea?)

And…. what Real Reason did FDR have?  “They bombed Hawaii”?  But wait a sec –  Hawaii was stolen land (we defeated a local queen to take it) we didn’t actually deserve! And why lose a million human lives over an assault on some damn tropical island we had just stolen?  (Oh yeah:  it was a strategic naval base for keeping the adversaries in line.  Not so noble a motive – eh FDR?)

What Real Reason did Lincoln have?  Slaves?  BS.  He just didn’t want to lose southern agriculture and land mass.  Nearly a million died so he could own more crap.  They died horribly, from sepsis and dysentery, while he stayed safe and went to the theater.

What Real Reason did Geo Wash have?  Didn’t wanna pay tax on tea?  Wow so killing people over money is a-Okay?

Hell Im just playing wi yall a bit.  If YOU really think that GW and AL and FDR are heroes, then U should appreciate that many fighters feel the same.  For example:  those who rebel against Assad feel just as righteous. And if YOU THINK slavery is a Bad Thing, understand Assad has kept slavery going for 40 yrs.  The Kurds think their war is just, after decades of being massacred. The Syrian youth think they deserve a fair chance – against Assad’s cronyism and nepotism.  The Sunnis think Sharia and Allah is worth dying for.

TL;DR:  Maybe war is sometimes “moral” and justified.  And all those progressives who’ve  been licking FDR and Lincoln ass had better admit they Agree.  Otherwise, the cognitive dissonance is overwhelming!

in certain situations? I don’t claim to know.

One thing I am convinced of is that no positive social change is ever accomplished without either violence or the threat of violence. There is no historical evidence to the contrary. It is a sad statement on humanity by someone who has studied history since he learned how to read, but it is true.

People who hold power very seldom give it up just because they think it is the right thing to do. You mentioned George Washington. The greatest thing he ever did, IMO, was to voluntarily relinquish power. A rare event. Americans were incredibly lucky to have had George Washington.

millions of people in concentration camps WWII was necessary to stop that if not for any other reason. The Civil War was necessary to end slavery. Now the Revolutionary War I am not sure about but it happened. So no war is never the ultimate answer. BUT when you meet someone like Trump or Hillary who refuse to use logic then sometimes it cannot be avoided.

The wars since the 1950s all were fought without any declaration of war or any real reason that would have justified them. And just in case you want to remind me of 9/11 I see that as an incident that was done by 20 men and wonder why we are fighting nations instead of those 20 men?

It used to be that you sent soldiers to fight soldiers.  Now we bomb and drone civilians and go door to door etc. And kill children with sanctions. All in the name of fighting terrorism while creating more terrorists.  In the past there were certain rules to war, such as the Geneva Conventions and you could be prosecuted for warcrimes if you didn’t follow them. Now, not so much. We say they are “unlawful combatants” and do whatever we want.  Wars are probably inevitable, but why do they have to now be fought on a continuous basis with no way to determine that one side has won? Also, it used to be the sole responsibility of Congress to declare war. Now presidents have carte blanche to do whatever they can sell to the public with a complicit media.

P.S. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were war crimes.

What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?”

I don’t think it made any difference to the dead and their relatives whether they died by the loving Obama/Hillary Bombs or the hateful republican bombs. Wars are essential for the war profiteers axiomatic emanating from the fact that we have not fought any just war since WW2. Has anyone ever pondered aswhy we always have enough for wars but never enough for m4all or any public welfare programs

Never expect different result by following the previous steps
