What are the rules?! We all seem to be losing!
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.....Martin Luther King '63
It takes all the technical proficiency our system can provide to make up for the woeful lack of popular support and political savvy of most of the regimes that the West has thus far sought to prop up.........Bernard Fall

Speaking of which … I wonder what the cost of fighting cancer was all those years for Alex Trebek? Of course, his net worth was big, but that shouldn’t have mattered, for when figuring out what a national health care system cradle to grave WOULD have cost, I’m pretty certain that all long term illnesses that could have been addressed much earlier in life far displace the cost what Mr. & Mrs. America would pay into the system. We already pay into the system of the most expensive “health” care around.
What could we have accomplished across global resources of taking care of the planet, and avoiding the tremendous environmental toxins we are spilling from extraction or injection wells of big oil and gas, not to mention depleted uranium and toxins produced in endless wars of aggression.
The lie is bigger every day we put this off, and they know it.

It’s expensive and doesn’t cover other family members. And if you want prescription drug coverage or more than bare bones, you have to pick and pay a for-profit insurance company.

Medicare for All would cover everyone (therefore, cradle to grave). I’m not sure of your point of reference! I’d be willing to give you my thoughts at the same time I’m willing to admit that some things within the Medicare system would need to be fixed (for everyone). The original 2016 M4A conversations on Bernie Sanders (probably now defunct, I don’t know) website was informative.

My first Medicare bill was $1200 or so – I was shocked. And that didn’t include the prescription drug coverage (Part D) or an additional payment for Part G to cover the 20% that’s not included.
I’d rather have healthcare for all – like civilized countries.

What was the $1,200.00 bill for? If you’d rather PM, that’s cool.
Oversight for Medicare is administered by each State’s intermediary, which means that Medicare historically is administered through a private insurance. In my case, PA uses Highmark. So, unless you have straight Medicare, in which there are deductibles each year and requires premiums and often is an 80% of “reasonable” costs for your area and your balance of 20% that is usually waived, you end up having different payment in what’s covered in “care”. That is the thing that HAS to be standardized (Bernie Sanders went into more detail in 2016 on his website). They also have to fix Part D (prescription drugs) because if you have a large tier drug for bad asthma, let’s say, you end up running out of money have way through a year you might have thought you were covered. THIS has to be fixed, too.

for I believe two months. Not for services – just a payment to Medicare for coverage.

Two months, which means your premiums must $be 600 bucks a month!?! Holy cow…
If it acted like it should, there would be no such premium, and it is possible.

I was shocked – after all, I’ve contributed to Medicare for decades.
This is why I don’t believe that Medicare for All – in the current form of Medicare – provides a national solution.

We have the ability to put this in place but for SURE, it is not what we have! It’s what we COULD have. It’s what we SHOULD have HAD. In addition, anything to advance the Medicare program’s potential is currently being robbed by Medicare Advantage rips-off plans! This is one of the main reasons I am pissed off and no longer believe Bernie Sanders, who should have known better.
You and me, jb…

I’m just using the official Medicare plans – and still had to get separate insurance through Medicare for Part D and Part G.
It’s all for corporate profit – except for Parts A & B. I had to have three Medicare cards – Medicare, prescription, and Part G additional coverage.
Talk about making it confusing – and profitable for the corporations.

… It going in the opposite direction from what these miserable sellouts need to do with the program.
