H1-B holders in the United States can rest assured that changes are soon coming which will bring both simplicity and certainty to your stay, including a potential path to citizenship. We want to encourage talented and highly skilled people to pursue career options in the U.S.

The Big Lie: "Make the lie big, Make it simple, Keep saying it, And eventually they will believe it." AH.
"Arguments must therefore be crude, clear and forcible, and appeal to emotions and instincts, not the intellect." JG
National issues (slavery/racism, income inequality, pandemics and pathetic health care, weak unions) are not solved with more states' rights. Global problems (climate change, migration, trade, war, pandemics) are not solved with more nationalism.

Ah! Shades of Hillary!!!!!! That’s NOT “whataboutism, folks, that’s “frame of reference”. Hillary wanted to increase the number of H1-B visas by quite a bit. There are very few EFFECTIVE politicians working for we the people in Washington DC. Very few. Time to start thinking of other options besides the Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals. Ooops! The Democrats and the GOP, sorry!
And anyone who whines “racism” – no, my stupid dear one, no one in the US would have been any happier to lose their job to anyone from ANY OTHER FORKING COUNTRY. So stick that “racism” bilge into an orifice in your nether regions.

But, But – Trump told me that he would keep all the scary people out of the country so snowflakes felt protected and safe.

Money from the H1-b agencies flows into bipartisan coffers. So, by GOP/Democrat standards, H1-b visa holders are not “scary people”. The people they displace are the scary people. And these days, telling IT people to just go back to school, acquire a huge wad of debt, and learn to do something else is just not really a viable option – and not an option which should be necessary. And remember – the US is a sovereign state when it comes to corporate plundering and war – but we citizens are not really very important at all.
Are you calling the people whose jobs go to H1-b visa holders “snowflakes”? It is not even a matter of better training – I have been interviewed for IT jobs where I was just the token American interviewed so they could go ahead and hire the less qualified H1-b. There is something out on YouTube still, training for companies so they can get around the laughable regulations on this. And entire DEPARTMENTS lose their jobs sometimes – this is not a matter of better training.

Sorry that one did not detect the sarcasm in that post.

You don’t get it, not everything is racism or “scary” people.
People want jobs that are secure (not contract labor) and pay well enough to take care of their families, that is not racism.
It is a fact that illegal immigrants and too many legal immigrants brough here under the H1b lower wages. We have plenty of skilled labor here already to fill any alleged H1b needs, it’s just that the tech companies want to import cheap labor.

The ridiculous part of this whole thing is that Trump profits rather bigly from illegal immigration himself.
He does not actually want to build a wall. It cannot be done for five billion, or ten, or twenty – not if he wants it to be solid construction. Not if he wants enough people protecting it.
That has a much higher price tag. He knows that. His supporters though, are howling for the real thing. “Well, walls work! Like the wheel!” LOL.
For houses? Walls are great. For any real length of border? Ask China.
One of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Both parties know this. Anyone who thinks that will build any kind of effective wall, halt or even slow undocumented immigrant labor is fooling themselves.
Five billion dollars for a wall would be a wasted five billion. More likely – he will attempt the “emergency” route and seize either storm relief funds – or the DOD budget.

When you can’t outsource a job for cheap labor, you just bring them here. That’s H1-B visas in a nutshell.

Business magazine editorials claim there is a shortage of ‘qualified’ workers in the US.
By ‘qualified’ they mean: they expect too much $$$, as their college debt must be paid.
The imported workers will set the salary standard for US workers that possess a degree.
Just a legal way to get this done as opposed to the southern migration which keeps wages low for everyone else.

Yep – the H1b issue has been around for decades. With the economy running well, the Oligarchs Corporations and Banks need to import cheap labor to lower wage expectations and control costs.

Never expect different result by following the previous steps

How about encouraging and ensuring current youth will become talented and highly skilled, Donny Boy? Instead of encouraging brain drain from other countries (the cheap option for you).
But maybe not such a bad thing — it promotes more competition among the upper middle class, driving wages down — win-win for you and the ruling class.
