What is anti-semitism?

Reading through this article, I was impressed by the naked fear experienced by the author. He seems truly afraid that armed gunmen will invade his child’s preschool and murder the kids. That is a distinct possibility in our exceptionally violent and heavily armed society, but is it motivated by hatred of Jewish people? We know mosques are attacked, black churches are burned, LGBTQ people are harrassed, and so on. The latest trend is a wave of anti-Asian violence, apparently motivated by the dea that the corona virus originated in China. The author asks why anti-semitism is not considered a crisis in America. What good would it do to declare it a crisis? Everybody who is “different” is in the same boat, subject to attack by some psychopath who absorbed too much hatred on the interwebs. Addressing hatred one group at a time isn’t going to be effective. We’ll end up with 30 or 40 programs and policies, each competing with the others for funding and attention. No good. Some other solution isi needed, but it will require us to recognize that hatred is hatred, and none of us are safe until all of us are safe.

You don’t even have to be ‘different’.
How many shooters have there been in majority white schools?
The US has a violence problem. The US has a hate problem. The US needs some anger management classes.
The US has an unconsciousness problem; we live in a media-mediated dream state.

Anti-semitism is a confusing concept. You get a different definition depending upon who is giving it, and it doesn’t mean what it seems to mean – i.e., it is not hatred for Semites, because as it’s used in academia, it doesn’t include hatred for arabs or Palestinians who are Semitic. Instead, it means hatred for Jews exclusively. Some say you are anti-Semitic if you ever criticize Israel for any reason.
So ultimately, I don’t know what it means anymore, and I’m not prepared to accept a faulty definition that applies only to a subset of Semites rather than all Semitic people.
The opinions and personal views expressed herein are solely those of the author, and should never be taken seriously.

Zionists have destroyed its previous meanings by twisting it into an excuse to act like Nazis themselves.
How about anti-Jewish bigot? Would that not cover those who don’t like Jews and shoot up synagogues?
