      When conservatives try to make fun of something, they just end up showing how STUPID they are.

        .

        If you give a man enough rope, it will be six inches too short. This is not the nature of rope- it is the nature of man.

        “There’s a new spirit abroad in the land. The old days of ‘grab and greed’ are on their way out. We’re beginning to think of what we owe the other fellow, not just what we’re compelled to give him. The time’s coming… when we shan’t be able to fill our bellies in comfort while others go hungry, sleep in warm beds while others shiver in the cold.... And God willing, we’ll live to see that day…” Basil Rathbone,"Sherlock Holmes Faces Death" (Universal 1943)

      It’s pretty hard to do, considering that “the media” contradicts each other consistently.

        Doublethink is a process of indoctrination whereby the subject is expected to accept as true that which is clearly false, or to simultaneously accept two mutually contradictory beliefs as correct, often in contravention to one’s own memories or sense of reality. Doublethink is related to, but differs from, hypocrisy.

        George Orwell invented the word doublethink (as part of Newspeak) in his 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. In the novel, its origins within the citizenry is unclear; while it could be partly a product of Big Brother’s formal brainwashing programs, the novel explicitly shows people learning doublethink and Newspeak due to peer pressure and a desire to “fit in”, or gain status within the Party—to be seen as a loyal Party Member.

        In the novel, for someone to even recognize—let alone mention—any contradiction within the context of the Party line is akin to blasphemy, and could subject that person to disciplinary action and the instant social disapproval of fellow Party Members…

        @bazukhov

        When it comes to basic financial, economic and foreign policies, the consensus among the corporate propaganda outlets and their owners, is rock-solid, no matter what ‘side’ they’re on, ideologically. They all share the same class interests.

      it’s not a bad rule of thumb to question everything.

      All governments lie to their citizen's, but only Americans believe theirs.

        He might be to the right of us, but he has the same issues with the centre-right that we have.

          That’s not an American spelling. Where are you from?
