Pelosi Says Democrats Have A Responsibility To Look For Common Ground On Health

When Democrats held a majority of the seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi was the House speaker, she helped pass the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

Now, after more than six years in the minority party, she is watching House Republicans move to repeal and replace parts of the law.

She says that although Democrats don’t have the votes to stop the GOP legislation alone, they can still show their opposition to it.

“In my office I have a painting of Abraham Lincoln, who said, ‘Public sentiment is everything,’ ” Pelosi told NPR’s Robert Siegel. “Regardless of the number of Democrats in the House, the number of people who are affected, 24 million [people] who would lose their care, I’m depending on public opinion. … The fact is the more we point out the shortcomings of the legislation, the fewer votes [Republicans] will have.”

    3. So I'm just not buying it.

Where was this Nancy Pelosi person the week that Bernie Sanders tried to get us Americans lowered drug prices, legislation that failed to pass due to Corporate Controlled Democrats selling us out?

Pelosi is always letting us know that if ONLY the Dems could be in charge of both  houses, then everything would come  up roses.

But when the Democrats are in charge, things quickly continue along the same ol’ same old.  Which is how 23 trillions of bucks got handed over from Main Street’s economy to Wall Street circa the Dem majority in Congress with a Democratic President at the helm, Jan 2009 to Jan 2011.

And it is also why this is happening in terms of the health care situation, a realization that the ACA was mostly about selling us a mandated inferior product for oodles of dollars a month more than it should cost:

    From an Alabama newspaper:
    http://yellowhammernews.com/
    From the article:
Many in Alabama and throughout the country were forced away from the health care plan and doctor they liked, despite promises to the contrary.

The law’s ill-conceived web of taxes, mandates, and regulations has driven up costs for everyday families by huge margins. This year alone, premiums in Alabama are rising by an average of 58 percent, which comes on top of already steep increases over the last two years. The average deductible for the cheapest plan in Alabama is now $6,000. As more insurers flee the individual marketplace, it is now more clear than ever that Obamacare is crumbling.

    ####

The ACA worked out great for people working for large corporations or government agencies that paid their premiums for  them.  It worked out very poorly for most self employed people. But it worked out absolutely MARVELOUSLY FOR THE BIG HEALTH INSURERS, who issued an inferior product at outrageous monthly preiums. And the execs at those companies let us know the prices are only going to continue to rise, even as we are denied treatments and procedures that  are needed.

    5. Once you've seen how she failed in House leadership, why go further?

I don’t believe a FUCKING thing Rep. Pelosi says because SHE never believed what happened under George W Bush. In fact, she plainly made it clear that impeachment of the war criminals behind every trampled civil right and exploit of unfettered capitalism was OFF the table.

To say  you took your responsibility for granted is an understatement, Nancy. Go lie elsewhere. Move over so before there is no one left with a conscious democratic ethic.

Pelosi: We will let them do anything they want.

    15. Is she talking about the Democrats?

The party that couldn’t even stick together to pass a strong health care ill in the first place?  Public sentiment?  Really?  Nancy, they hate us!  They hate us because we’re spineless wimps.  They hate us because we insisted on running a presidential candidate who preferred to pimp her website instead of listening to working Americans. They hate us for not just failing to find common ground between blacks and whites, but specifically rejecting it. Common ground? Pfffft!

    19. So, if public sentiment truly is everything,

and the public wants single payer, then you’re behind that right, Nancy, and would press for its implementation?

Or is good ol’ Abe just there to show people that you can do lip-service with the best of them?

Cake, sorry. Sorry..." "You said death first, uh-uh, death first!" "Well, I meant cake!" "Oh, all right. You're lucky I'm Church of England!" Eddie Izzard, Dress To Kill
