Here we go again. Another analysis piece explaining how Trump shoots himself in the head, alienates his most loyal supporters, and loses the election. It sounds nice, and I would like it to be true, but there are a few problems with drawing such a conclusion.
First come the exemptions. The new food stamp requirements are waived in areas of high unemployment. In other words, in the heart of MAGA land. Work requirements are also waived for those who are unable to work due to disability or other legitimate reasons. That means most white males on food stamps in areas where there are many Trump supporters will continue to receive SNAP benefits, what we commonly call food stamps.
Second, there aren’t that many white men without dependents on food stamps in the first place. The stereotypical welfare recipient is portrayed as an urban black woman who has more and more children to qualify for increased benefits. “Welfare Queen” is not a white man.

I know it is merely wishful thinking. Ironically and kinda hilariously, that sort of thing may inspire people to come out and vote for him. Which is all that counts (if that, considering how corrupted our elections are) – the polls and approval ratings don’t really mean much, IMO, except as fund-raising fodder.

Been there, done that. Yes, I was once a white guy on food stamps. Never turned me into a Republican, though. :duck:

so you can buy booze or cigarettes.
And what percentage of SNAP recipients are Wallmart workers?

His worshipers would starve to death if it pleased their Master. OF COURSE the rural white man will still get his government money check – this only applies to darker skinned individuals in urban areas.
The GOP knows which groups to target their racism at. It ain’t their voter base.

I have seen. Just goes to show that when someone has an agenda they can twist and misrepresent statistics to prove anything, in this case the article tries to insinuate that able bodied white males w/o dependents make up a large percentage of snap recipients when they do not, even though, they are make up a much larger percentage of the overall population. A dead give away to such articles is when they do not allow comments, which occurs alot at the huff post.
Nevertheless I wonder how an article switching genders to white women (with or without dependents) whom I believe voted in large percentages for trump too.
It’s crap race baiting articles like this that keep this country divided along racial lines.

But not many are on food stamps. They get other government support – drawing disability or unemployment. Extended family is also important: mom’s social security check, dad’s pension, and sister’s credit card help them make it from month to month.
A main tool of survival is the selling of prescription opioids. People with chronic pain (or cough-cough “chronic pain”) get scrips from their pain clinics, and buy pills cheaply due to Medicaid coverage – then sell them at a profit to other addicts. That’s the secret currency of white, small-town America.
But not food stamps. This article seems off.
