The FBI warned more than a decade ago that white supremacists had infiltrated the nation’s police departments, but now experts say the problem “has gotten 10 times worse.”
An internal report, “White Supremacist Infiltration of Law Enforcement,” compiled in October 2006 has circulated for years in heavily redacted form, but 28 lawmakers have called on the FBI and the Department of Justice to finally release the full document, reported The Daily Beast.
“This report is more than 14 years old,” said Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA), who’s leading the effort to force its release. “God knows where these officers that were looked at back then are in the rank and file of our police departments.”
“Republicans have been very aggressive at denying that white supremacists are a growing problem in our country,” she said. “We also have a president who has expressed the same concern that there is no white supremacist problem here in the U.S.”
“A lie doesn't become truth, wrong doesn't become right, and evil doesn't become good, just because it's accepted by a majority.” ~ Booker T. Washington
The truth is, there’s no such thing as being “anti-Fascist.” Either you are a decent human being with a conscience, or you are a fascist.

Since the 80s they have been infiltrating in schools, police departments and the military itself. As far as I know they were not so successful in schools because teachers and parents caught on pretty fast. But with the military and the police it is different – the military was their training ground for violence and they are seldom investigated. Then they come home and get hired by police forces because they have been in the military. A circle.

which is linked in the story. Note which Congressional reps signed it at the end. (on edit, thanks for the above, PADem).
If the report could be released, I could see an independent structure of researchers–could be academics, could be volunteers with experience with research–tracking down where the white supremacists are in government now. No need to wait on government to get this started. See this quote:
“They have been allowed to gain employment within our criminal justice system as prosecutors, as police officers, as investigators, as medical examiners, as judges, according to their own literature.”
The article cites examples of white supremacists who have been outed:
Multiple police and correctional officers have been outed as members of far-right groups in recent years, including a Connecticut police officer revealed as a Proud Boy, nearly a quarter of a small Florida police force revealed as KKK members, and a member of an Alabama force revealed as a member of a neo-Confederate group.
Wow, who would ever guess that the U.S. would have its own brown shirts through this kind of movement?
Fascinating article. Thanks so much for posting it, ravensong.

About five or six years ago, we noticed lots of young white cops showing up with skinhead haircuts. We’d never seen that before. They were covered with tattoos that looked like they were done while in the Army or something, and always with the full military-style gear. I believe the report is accurate.

this info cannot be cited and recited often enough until — once and for all — the information is embedded in bold print in all of our heads.
OK since THIS ^ is true, then Gee, what might happen as a result of this being true? Duh. Black people summarily murdered in broad daylight on the regular .. Hmmmm who could have guessed?
