Will The People Of Bolivia Reverse The US-Supported Coup Against Evo Morales?

Bolivia – On November 11, following victory in the October 20 presidential election and a vicious right-wing coup attempt, President Evo Morales resigned. Signs that a coup would occur if Morales won re-election surfaced before the election took place. Violent groups burnt buildings of Morales’ MAS (Movement Toward Socialism) Party and tried to cause chaos in the streets.

Immediately after the election, coup-supporters claimed there was election fraud without evidence to support the claim. The Organization of American States (OAS) demanded a recount, which Morales agreed to conduct. Then they called for a new election, which Morales consented to. And finally, as right-wing violence escalated to an extreme level, the head of the military turned against the President.

The resignation of Evo Morales is sending shockwaves across Bolivia, Latin America and around the world. People rallied immediately to reverse this US-supported coup using the hashtag, #EvoElMundoEstaContigo.

Popular Resistance joins social movements in Bolivia, around the world and in the United States in calling for Evo Morales to return to power. The people of Bolivia have the power to reverse this US-supported coup. Now is the time to act. People power can reverse this coup.

Well, a lot of them are sure going to try. There’s a lot of international condemnation going round, a lot more than there was after Obama’s coup in Honduras. The President of Mexico, the Spanish Foreign Minister, an Irish MEP who was in Bolivia as an election monitor, the head of the British Labour Party, and American Member of congress(if the Brits can say MP, why can’t we say MC?), and disapproval from one major American presidential candidate so far.

Oh yeah, the President-elect of Argentina. And Lula. Brazil’s right next door and Lula’s release from jail has turned Brazilian politics upside down.

The whole justification for the coup is that Morales committed election fraud, but no evidence has been presented, only flimsy allegations. This coup has not succeeded yet.

Morales lost the referendum for one more period, and should have accepted that result instead of stacking judicial oligarchy to go against the referendum.

      Aloha!

        @voltairine:

Possibly, but I advise you to read the article on the

Grayzone. This shows that true fascists were behind

this coup for months if not years.

Chaos In Bolivia After President Morales Resigns, Claims He Was Victim Of A Coup

    https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/chaos-bolivia-after-president-morales-resigns-claims-he-was-victim-coup

Morales said that he decided to leave the post in hopes that his departure would stop the spate of violent attacks against officials and indigenous people, “so that protesters do not continue burning the houses of public officials” and “kidnapping and mistreating” families of indigenous leaders.

“I am resigning, sending my letter of resignation to the Legislative Assembly,” Morales said, adding that it was his “obligation as indigenous president and president of all Bolivians to seek peace.”

Morales has received a reputation as a staunch defender of socialism and an ardent critic of US foreign policy. The country’s highest court ruled in 2018 that he could run for the fourth time.

Underscoring the ongoing tensions, Morales later said on Twitter that the police had an “illegal” warrant for his arrest and that “violent groups” had attacked his home, according to Reuters, although the local police chief later refuted there was a warrant for Morales’ arrest.

We will come back, says Bolivia’s Evo Morales after rightist coup forces him to resign

    https://www.struggle-la-lucha.org/2019/11/11/we-will-come-back-says-bolivias-evo-morales-after-rightist-coup-forces-him-to-resign/

The Bolivian leader said that he decided to leave the post in hopes that his departure would stop the spate of violent attacks against officials and indigenous people, “so that they [the rightists] do not continue burning the houses [of public officials]” and “kidnapping and mistreating” families of indigenous leaders.

“It is my obligation, as the first indigenous president and president of all Bolivians, to seek this pacification,” he said.

Evo said that he hopes opposition would “understand the message.”

Evo urged protesters to “stop attacking the brothers and sisters, stop burning and attacking.”

Shortly after the announcement, his Vice-President Alvaro Marcelo Garcia Linera also submitted his resignation.

The two leaders said that they would be handing their resignation letters to the country’s National Assembly.

    I sure hope so.

I’m hoping The Grayzone goes to Bolivia like they did Venezuela. They can aim a camera at the truth. No one else will.

The timing of Max Blumenthal’s arrest on a 5 month old charge is interesting in light of current events in Bolivia. Was he spooked to keep The Grayzone out of Bolivia? Most likely! I hope Ben and Anya still have the chutzpah to go to Bolivia and do their thing – talk to THE PEOPLE – VOTERS.

I really hope the people undo this U.S. orchestrated coup #698.
