Well, I guess I held a contemptible position until Super Tuesday, according to the Trotskyists from Detroit. I thought trying to take over the Democratic Party was worth a try, because it was the only political vehicle available for progressives and the working class, and I still do think it was worth it this year.

I will never again hold that position, any more than I will ever vote for a Democrat again. Anyway, here’s the editorial; it does make some good points, though I think their Socialist Equality Party is a joke and I wouldn’t trust any of them to run a school district, much less a country:

The campaign of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is making a last-ditch stand in the Michigan primary Tuesday, amid mounting indications that the Democratic Party as a whole has moved decisively into the camp of his main rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. Sanders cancelled rallies in Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois—all states where he trails Biden in the polls—in order to concentrate all his efforts in Michigan, where he won an upset victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

On Sunday, Senator Kamala Harris endorsed Biden, the latest of nine former presidential contenders to announce their support for their one-time rival, joining Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Michael Bloomberg, Beto O’Rourke, John Delaney, Seth Moulton, Tim Ryan, and Deval Patrick. Harris is to join Biden for a campaign rally in Detroit Monday.

The consolidation of the Democratic Party behind Biden is a damning exposure, not merely of the politically reactionary character of this organization, but of the contemptible falsification on which the Sanders campaign has been based: that it is possible to transform the Democratic Party, the oldest American capitalist party, into the spearhead of a “political revolution” that will bring about fundamental social change.

Former Vice President Biden is the personification of the decrepit and right-wing character of the Democratic Party. In the past 10 days alone, Biden has declared himself a candidate for the US Senate, rather than president, confused his wife and his sister as they stood on either side of him, called himself an “Obiden Bama Democrat,” and declared that 150 million Americans died in gun violence over the past decade. This is not just a matter of Biden’s declining mental state: it is the Democratic Party, not just its presidential frontrunner, that is verging on political senility.

Who holds office locally affects your life more than who is president.  According to Michael Moore, 90,000 ballots in Michigan had blank presidential lines but votes for candidates lower down on the ticket.  Clinton lost MI by only 10,000 votes.

Then I am done with the party. Oregon has closed primaries, so I have begrudgingly registered as Democrat, but no more.

      Hi ob,

Well, we can hearken back to that wise political (DNC) sage – Dubya – from Texas.

“Fool me once – shame on – shame on you – Fool me – you can’t get fooled again.”

Well we know what he meant – and we surely know what the DNC is all about.

        Hi ob,

Well there we are – two wise political sages – one from Delaware and one from Texas – guess we should listen to our betters.

Will the Democrat  and Independent voters rally behind Biden if he gets the nomination?   Will he get enough of them to win against Trump?

I think they will just to get rid of the lunatic even if the nose holding is more painful than usual.

@bazukhov Personally, I think Trump is the lesser evil if the only choice is between him and Biden. Fortunately, that is not my only choice.

          Trump is the lesser evil?

We most certainly disagree on that.

Biden may be a doddering old relic of politics-as-usual and not the best candidate for Democrats to nominate.   But, he isn’t a White Nationalist, racist, misogynist, xenophobe, or lunatic who wants to ban abortions, destroy the environment, free war criminals and assorted crooks, cut taxes on the rich and corporations, make war on Iran, cut wages, etc, etc, etc ad nauseum.

I don’t like Biden.  I voted for Bernie in our primary, if he becomes president I’ll seek to replace him with someone more to the left than he is.

Worse than Trump?    I don’t think so.

            And is proud of that.

Plus the GOP and the Vichy Dem Congress would love to work with him, as would the CIA and MIC.  And Biden will have Vichy Dem handlers, if he is too senile to do much himself.    I do not know anyone personally who will vote for him.  Millennial grandson and friends feel Obama crapped on them and Biden will crap on them, also four years of Trump vs eight years of Biden/Vichy Dem.  No contest.  And they are not talking Green, they are taking no chances.

@bazukhov #1. Trump has not gotten us into any more shooting wars. He may or may not in a second term, but we know Biden will. He has been, and is, a far greater warmonger than Trump has ever been.

#2. Trump is term-limited, after all. Who knows? He may die in office. Biden will only serve one term, if that, but his VP will be absolutely horrible and just as bad as him. We’ll see, of course.

Everything else cancels out. Biden is just as bad for the environment, just as bad a puppet for Wall Street(he’s thinking about making Jamie Dimon Secretary of the Treasury, for the gods’ sake), he loves the for-profit prison industry, and, Oh!

            #3 Biden’s for the TPP. Trump ain’t.

So, to recap, Trump’s term-limited, has a better record on war and peace, and hasn’t done as much damage on trade. Got anything that outweighs those?

            @bazukhov:

He is so weak and mentally declining that the alphabet

groups will take over totally. OB is correct about Trump’s

efforts to resist the MIC/CIA power, even though they

won’t permit him to go his own way. If the terrible regime

change wars and their victims don’t convince you, then remember

that over 50% of our people’s taxes fund them. And it was the

Dems mainly, who increased the military budget. Biden has proven

himself as a war monger as head of the foreign relation committee,

when he did not allow anti-war specialists to testify. The economy

now is crashing; do you think that Biden won’t save Wall Street, after

he supported Obama to do it in 09? Biden will let TPTB do everything

they demand and support it, and that will include SS,Medicare,Medicaid

“sacrifices” by “the people”. Identity policies will not save the country.

But I don’t feel the same way about Biden who I consider more conservative than either the Clintons or Obama. I’m sure there are others probably on the younger side that feel the same way.

The DNC / SV Dems will somehow simultaneously take our votes for granted by assuming everyone has an civic duty to rally behind their anointed candidate (the “where else you gonna go?” model), and they will tell us they don’t need–or want–our votes (the “leftists and Bernie bros are a small minority” model)
