Speaking on national TV, he suggested his country could be victorious against Russia on the battlefield.
However, he added that the war could only come to a conclusive halt “at the negotiating table”.
The end of fighting in the southern port city of Mariupol has freed up Russian troops for redeployment elsewhere and allowed them to intensify their onslaught in the east.
Local governor Serhiy Haidai said the Russians were “destroying” Severodonetsk as they gradually surrounded it.

Two words: Minsk Agreements

by Ukraine, the US, and the West for eight years, it’s turned out great for Ukrainians, hasn’t it?

No. The Minsk Agreements were abandoned by the Maidan Coup regime when it continued to shell the Donbass for years in flagrant violation of the agreements, and totally broken when that same neo-Nazi regime massed the Ukrainian Army for an all-out invasion of the breakaway regions just before Russia intervened.
That’s what happened. The corporate media is lying to you.

The UN Security Council unanimously approved the Minsk protocols. That of course included the US and UK.
I believe the only step that was implemented was the Special Monitoring Mission that documented the cease-fire violations for years.

In other words the Kiew government has at last to admit
that it is losing, no matter what it and the Western allies
pretended, especially UK/USA. Unfortunately for Ukraine
this may be far too late to get anything else but a rumpstate
without access to the black or Azov sea. Another imperial
disaster for the US.

All those Fascistic eastern European states like Poland looking to the US Empire for support better take heed. If the Imperial American State will sacrifice Ukraine to maximize its profits, why would it not sacrifice Estonia and Finland as well?
Of course it would. Europeans should WTFU.

As the war has drug on, I’ve had a growing feeling Donetsk and Luhansk will fare better after the fighting ends. Russia will help them rebuild. Who will help Ukraine with anything other than more weapons?

And I worry that life may be much worse for any Russian-speaking Ukrainians that remain in Ukraine when this is over.
Well, any Ukrainians, for that matter – Joey has finally managed to destroy the economy and much of the country.

Apartments aren’t going to be worth much – if you can even find a buyer.
Look at house prices in Russia now – they are more expensive.
The value of the hryvnia continues to drop too.
My wife’s family flat will not be worth much at all if it remains in Ukraine – the final borders will make a big difference.

He may consider giving Ukraine Kharkov or something if they stop fighting soon, but I don’t think he’s going to let them have a Black Sea coast at all. They’ll have to ship their grain through Russian territory in order to export it.
And the thing is, the entire Black Sea coast is majority Russian. Putin also wants to hook up with the ethnic Russians and Ukrainians who refused to join Moldova, where Russian peacekeeping forces have been since Yeltsin’s time. That will only increase his prestige with Russians everywhere.

Kharkiv is another Russian-speaking area – or was, at least.
But the war doesn’t help. My friend’s brother in Kharkiv has gone from anti-Azov to anti-Russian as missile strikes continue.
I suspect others will blame the governments who send the infinite weapon supply to prolong the war and leave Ukraine in probably infinite debt.

while he still says Ukraine can defeat Russia.
Well, with the infinite armaments from the collective West.
Zelensky needs to be reminded his citizens aren’t infinite for cannon fodder, though –
