That may be a project for the spring. I hate winter, really hate it. Absolutely recoil from it. Now that it’s here, and a significant part of my job is managing it at work at our commercial properties, I don’t want to spend one minute more dealing with it than I have to. I don’t doubt at all that the cyclist in the videos finds it…[Read more]

Did you ever get back on your bike? I know it’s the winter and many people think they can’t bike during that kind of weather, but I can give you one Canadian commuter cyclist I like and he has many tips on winter biking, whether you get snow or not.
Also, sorry for the late reply. I kind of forgot about this whole site. Still not in the habit of…[Read more]

It’s so darned hilly and winding and disconnecting one neighborhood from another, that people have a lot of bike racks here if they use real bikes. After a year of not continuing with normal bikes, the solution was to change our exercise program rain or shine with an indoor exercise bike. Believe me, they are not all created equal! The one we’ve…[Read more]

Or an exercise machine? I know those can be Internet capable to let you see views someone else recorded. I have considered getting a rowing machine for when it’s bad weather outside, but here, that’s generally just rain. I’d still ride my bike if I had any decent raingear 🙂
As for the hills, these days that’s what a “pedal-assist” ebike is for.…[Read more]

I haven’t been on a bike in years, but I do have a good quality mountain bike available to me if I wanted it. I have a beautiful trail behind my house that runs for about 7 km. Its along a creek in a mostly wooded area, and not at all busy. The trail itself is well-compacted gravel and in good condition. I’m also close to the Welland canal, which…[Read more]

The internets!
Unfortunately, SW PA terrain and neighborhoods here are separated by bad municipal planning, so years ago, we got a nice footprint of a bike with a good way of tracking. I watch and bike virtually via YouTube in places like Italy, Oregon or some scenic place with fast rave music or something. I combine this in good weather with…[Read more]

Hey y’all!
Haven’t posted here before, but wanted to bring some life back to this group since the crash of the site.
About five months ago I got back on my bicycle, a Giant brand and Cypress model hybrid bike. I had to get it refurbished a month earlier and then equip it with various safety features (lights, a bell, a phone and wallet carrier)…[Read more]

Bill Gates, pandemic book/YouTube, Dr. John Campbell in the forum Health & Fitness 10 months ago
Tongue in cheek. Personally, John Campbell is at a station way above how I would express the value of Bill Gates outside of how to make yourself fabulously rich by pushing dangerous “preventative medicine” in under-developed countries. But, I digress. Love how JC puts it here. Don’t hold  your breath, John. Gates doesn’t do anything…[Read more]

Did you know this was radon awareness month? in the forum Health & Fitness 1 year ago
Paid about a hundred bucks to have it checked before we bought it. It was definitely a factor in the decisionmaking process on which house to buy. Definitely something to be aware of.

Which is not as much of a risk of exposure…
The funny thing ab0ut radon in the soil beneath houses is that radon can be at high levels in zone 3 for a given house, and the house next door will not be. It doesn’t evenly diffuse as a gas, and when it diffuses out of the ground with no structure above it, it freely dissipates to the air. It’s when…[Read more]

I’m in Mich. Looks like zone two but I am near a zone 1. What does that mean?

Where do you live again, @Pam2? Check out this map, and you can see why we have more reason to ask in the SW of PA…

Yes I heard about it, but I have enough stuff to worry about already! 😥
No granite and it’s sort of a half basement with a walk out. Also tiled. Do I need to panic?? 😱

A month to randomly become aware of things.
“Honey, I’m randomly aware today of how loudly you crunch your corn flakes!”
You could start a whole trend.

Which led to the random thought of how one would be aware of random. 😵💫
