And there is a lot of dependency on third parties, out-sourcing, and do more with less today.

I’ve taken time off for other interests (like work . . .) and come back to it when I can and when it brings me pleasure.
As a cellist, he will ALWAYS be welcome in many community orchestras, without the pressure of a professional career. I hope he will find a balance that he enjoys – and enjoyment is critical. Making a living as a professional…[Read more]

his grandfather always likes to tell the story of how he was a guest a private performance by Yo-Yo Ma. he’s hear the story at least a dozen times: “did i ever tell you about the time…” yes grandpa, you did 😀

I have no kids so I can’t entirely relate but I remember being a young person and having no clue on a direction. So, it is good that he seems to know what he wants. Maybe you can slap on some Yo-Yo Ma music from time to time to keep the cello interest going….

Thank you so much – and, perhaps, your son will take up the cello in later years to come. Such a beautiful sound, almost human, IMO. You must be very proud of him, and obviously you gifted him with a wonderful base from which to make those decisions.

Last night i went to my son’s final cello performance in the school orchestra. i wish he was continuing… he is so good, but he decided that next year he wants to take 4 AP classes, continue with German and computer programming. no room for music anymore. it makes me sad. he will continue piano lessons outside of school, so there’s that. i…[Read more]
