Lou is generally friendly and cautious. but i need to stay engaged with him if a new person shows up, like a repairman, or if i take him into a new environment. he is ussly shy, but if for whatever reason he perceive a threat he can get aressive. he is small though at 45 lbs so i can leash him if i think i need to. its rare tho. he goes…[Read more]

In fact, the same mix makes up my grand-dog (grandson’s dog), who was so aggressively going after him as a kid, they almost returned her, but she’s mellowed down now at around age 6.

Adopt Hank the Tank! in the forum Jackpine Pets 11 months ago
Since they have already habituated this bear to living with humans, might as well go all the way. Build him a nice habitat where he can live the good life, eat healthy food, lie around under a hear lamp, and watch porn on the internet.

may not be sentient by themselves.
But I do believe that Earth herself is sentient.

They tend to resurrect from time to time. Usually around gift giving time.

No, no.. don’t try to console me. I’ll be ok. I’m still working through the realization that my Pet Rock was never truly sentient, or in fact alive. But I can work though this. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Any cat whisperers here? I have a question. in the forum Jackpine Pets 1 year ago
I am so very sad to say that our little visitor was hit by a car last week. We hadn’t seen her in, well, a week. All that time, my little guy spent the days sitting by the fence, presumably waiting for her. I’d posted her photo to our nextdoor group a few weeks ago but only heard from the owner this morning. He said a neighbour found her body 2…[Read more]

I caught only cats, but I was trapping in a suburban, residential neighborhood. I have very occasionally seen a skunk or an opossum in the area, but none visited my trap.
If you do trap an animal you don’t want, it’s no big deal. You never have to handle the prisoner. You just unlatch the door and lift it up. The animal, now free to…[Read more]

Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. Our local HD didn’t have that, but another store has some humane traps that I’ll go look at tomorrow. My only concern is that we might end up catching the possums or skunks or raccoons that frequent our yard at night. (We have a pond, and it brings all the critters to the yard.) But if I put it out in the…[Read more]

Thanks for the warning. I just looked up this disease and it’s pretty scary. There appears to be a vaccine, but it’s kind of like the Covid vaccines — doesn’t necessarily prevent infection.
The little visitor did not come by today. Poor Casey sat by the fence for most of the day waiting for it. If it’s truly a feral…[Read more]

@alcina Don’t want to be alarmist, but Feline Leukemia killed 2 of my cats. When I lived in a semi rural area, I had 2, 10-12 year old cats who were indoor/outdoor cats although they spent most of their time indoors. One of the two cats came along with the house, and was originally a stray farm cat who the previous owner adopted and became a…[Read more]

If you want to take your visitor to the vet but you’re having trouble effecting the catch, I can recommend the humane traps from Havahart. The company sells online but I got mine at Home Depot.
You bait it with food. The cat, in walking toward the food, steps on a plate that causes the door to swing shut, a couple feet behind the…[Read more]

Feline leukemia is contagious. You and your Casey have been gifted. Be careful. Take the new baby to a vet. Happiness and joy to all 3 of you!!
