Any cat whisperers here? I have a question. in the forum Jackpine Pets 1 year ago
Thank you for the information. Of the cat sounds, the first one sounds very much like Casey; and the 3rd one sounds so much like the other cat that Casey came running in from outside to find out what was going on. I played the video again, and he showed no interest in the other sounds.
The other cat appears to be either a…[Read more]

Seems like they’re getting along. Sounds like they are just establishing a relationship.

And even if Casey is neutered, he might just like having company. But, really, taking the cat to the vet is the only way to see if it is healthy. Sounds like it won’t stay confined to your back yard, either, although if it is feral it might stick around for food and affection.
Here is a youtube of cats in heat sounds – brought my dog right in…[Read more]

We used to have 2 cats — Casey and Tiger — but sadly, Tiger died a few years ago at the age of 20 or so. His little brother from another mother, Casey, is now 15 and had never known another cat. About 3 weeks ago, a stray cat that has the exact same colouring as Tiger, though less furry, started coming to the fence. We’ve completely fenced in…[Read more]

But I want Phil. The name alone would do it, but the floppy ears and that tongue clinch the deal. 🐶

Sure looks that way to me. How else are they getting hundreds of dogs to offer?

Sometimes they ambush birds at the bird feeder, but hey, that’s life and death in the bird world. But they never even bother the cats, much less people. Sheesh.

Some guy in England is evidently driving his domesticated hawk around and finding birds for it to hunt. This article is full of Danger! Danger! stuff about razor sharp claws and attacks and killing and danger to children. In the United States we have Coopers Hawks in many urban areas and they go mostly unnoticed as they kill starlings and other…[Read more]

Pit bull revolving door. in the forum Jackpine Pets 1 year ago
This story illustrates a problem. “Dog breeders” are largely unregulated, producing way more dogs than warranted. This is a particular problem with pit bulls. People get a pit bull and discover it’s too much for them. They abandon the dog or turn it in to a shelter. Take a moment to browse the list of dogs available for adoption at your local…[Read more]

While her mother, Tamara, knew that the letter wouldn’t make it to heaven, she didn’t say anything and let Nevaeh send it off. The letter was officially addressed as “Tin Tin – The brightest star in the clouds, Heaven.” A week later, the girl and her famil…[Read more]

I interpret that to mean “It’s my bed, but you may share it… temporarily.”

do not give that belly rub unless it is your cat and you know for a fact your cat wants and/or is expecting a belly rub. Waking up a cat that way, unexpectedly, can result in activating all four sets of claws, because that is a defensive reaction. I had a cat that passed away earlier this year, I still miss her terribly, who slept like a de…[Read more]

Curled Up: Felines who curl up in a tight ball with their tail wrapped around their bodies are doing what comes natural to them. Cats in the wild will sleep this way as it offers protection and conserves body heat. It is one of the most popular sleeping positions for…[Read more]

Nutritional Yeast and cats…… is it true? in the forum Jackpine Pets 1 year ago
According to Cat World…
Cats are obligate carnivores which means they must have meat in their diet to survive. Their primary ancestors lived on a diet of small rodents and birds. Cats require a high protein diet with a variety of different nutrients such as taurine, arginine, calcium, niacin (vitamin B3), pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and thiamine…

Do vegetarians feed their pets “vegetarian”?
Maybe that would explain their cats craving for substitute dairy. -

I just opened up some nice, “come and get it” nutritional yeast right now. Both of my cats sneezed at it… then told me to fuck myself, Jan.

I knew about laser pointers, empty boxes, and catnip…. but now I’ve heard that cats go crazy over nutritional yeast.
