Writing as therapy? in the forum JPR Mental Health Support Group 9 months ago
My wife swears writing things out helps with her anger and depression, so whatever works.

Maybe not laugh out loud funny, but amusing. Stick with it. You might be the next Dorothy Parker.

Couldn’t seem to make myself stop. Huh, maybe I’ll make something of this eventually. Obviously needs work, but I wanted to start out with humor, because what comes next isn’t so pleasant.

Not so constructive, but maybe therapeutic in a way. Lots of arguing, complaining, attributing bad motives, name calling, insults, etc. Venting can be good, I guess.

… then “armed and dangerous” might have applied but just a regular guitar?! At worst, this is going off half-cocked.

So, bit of a disclaimer: I’m going to share something entirely ridiculous (and brief – for me) that I wrote about an hour ago. My therapist keeps telling me to write – and it is starting to have some affect. What inspired this little writing exercise (not an actual story or anything) was a story I was told some years ago during my full psych e…[Read more]

I probably worried about it too much. Anything I posted in late May and early June can be deleted including the post I made in the UFO thread.
Thanks. It is good to be back 🙂

I just went back to some UFO discussion in June, which I know I’ve forgotten if it ever WAS the one you referred to. Tell you what… PM me the dates you want, and I’ll remove it if you want, but like I say… who cares?
There are rumors of Bernie not ruling out a run. At this point, were the elections held today, I’d go back to my old 2016…[Read more]

any meltdowns from last year, either. If yours was spectacular, I would remember it, I’m sure. Besides, there are people who make fools of themselves here, daily! 😉 So I wouldn’t sweat a few indiscretions.
Glad you were able to find relief, and welcome back.
I’m with you to an extent on still supporting Bernie, et. al. At least he says the…[Read more]

Welcome back, glad you are getting the care you need.
I bet if you ask one of the mods to delete your old posts, they would.

Let’s see, since then my 100 year old mom died, the county dropped its mask and vaccine mandate after losing a third of its employees who quit, my daughter died of an opioid overdose and likely suicide, I learned that the trust fund my parents’ will promised me had never been funded and had never existed so unlike most boomers I won’t inherit…[Read more]

I’m glad I’m feeling better too.
I don’t see any alternatives myself either.

I am glad you are better, and I hope that Bernie et al. are still supported, even through disappointments. I don’t see alternatives yet –

I have a 100% service connected disability with the VA. Before the pandemic I had regular appointments with a therapist and received risperidone. When the coronavirus happened they switched to phone appointments. After a couple of appointments I lost touch and eventually ran out of risperidone.
I didn’t think I needed it anymore but last June I h…[Read more]

I’ve got a couple left to call in my county, the problem is that no dentist seems to have any openings even for an acute issue. So, if the pain gets worse I will go to the ER at least for antibiotics. I don’t really have a GP at this point, so I should probably find one of those as well.
Medicaid covers pulling, maybe a filling. I’m hoping I…[Read more]

I’ve done it before when very isolated – sometimes it gave me a chance to listen, a chance to talk, and sometimes even a chance to help someone else.
See https://www.calmclinic.com/anxiety/anxiety-chat-rooms for some possibilities.

I have had abscessed teeth before and it is not something you can just “grin and bear it.”
If the tooth is abscessed you immediately need to begin taking antibiotics! And you should go to the emergency room and tell them to pull the tooth before it hurts you worse or kills you. They will likely prescribe you antibiotics in the emergency room,…[Read more]
