There was a flurry of activity tonight.
Even Mr band tailed pigeon got in…[Read more]

The grebes were nesting in the shallow end. Mrs grebe occupied the nest while Mr grebe augmented the nest with more mud and reeds. There were hundreds of them. The dough may be bad for us, but it has created the perfect nesting conditions for the grebes. Then, I caught the great blue heron in flight! Gawd, I love this new…[Read more]

Mixologist face a similar challenge when confronted with the vast array of LBM, little brown mushrooms. Some friends tell me that the person who finally…[Read more]

I went bird watching with the Audubon birders once to see the sandhill cranes come into the rice fields to feed. I learned the term from the pros. Note: sandhill cranes do not qualify as LBBs. 😄

i’ll be happy if it pours on the 4th. and the 2nd & 5th too.

wouldn’t mind be able to say “had some sun today” in Portland 🙂
April was the wettest on record; May was in the top ten, and it’s the fifth of June – weather forecast says we could have 3/4 of the average June rainfall by Monday.

To the Titmice
In a cave in the flowering cherry tree
Tufted titmice are busy as bees
How many nestlings will I see?
One, two, three, four
It’s difficult to keep the score
In habitats outside my door
Where birds, mammals and insects are preserved
And creation flourishes undisturbed -
