Oh wow, what game! I bet many Leafs fans turned off the TV in anger and disgust and went to bed. Little did they know that that with 4  minutes left in regulation, down 3-0 to a suffocating Blue Jackets team, they would pull a come back victory for the ages. I’ve never seen a team pull the goalie for the extra attacker with 4 minutes to go, for almost the entirety of the 4 minutes. Leafs score 3 goals in 3 minutes, 32 seconds:

In mounting this 4-3 comeback, Toronto became only the third team in NHL history to win a postseason contest after overcoming a three-goal deficit in the final four minutes of regulation. The others were Edmonton in Game 3 of the 1997 conference quarterfinals and Anaheim in Game 5 of the 2017 second-round series.

The Maple Leafs’ victory marked the first instance in NHL history of a club overcoming a three-goal deficit when facing elimination. From: https://www.forbes.com/sites/curtisrush/2020/08/08/the-four-minute-miracle-on-bay-street-in-toronto/

Many are saying the thing that gave the leafs the extra spark was the Jason Spezza fight shortly before the rally.  37 Year old Spezza who in almost 20 years in the league has had only 9 fights. Definitely not a fighter, but still a leader. The former all-star Captain, who in the twilight of his career refused to go quietly without playing at least one more NHL game for his childhood favourite team.

Of course, the leafs have won nothing yet, and have a tradition of choking and disappointing long suffering fans. Game 5 is Sunday night, and it’d be the “Leafiest” thing to do to lose that one.  I’m excited, but keeping my optimism in check.

Tough one Col. but happy to see leafs still alive but that amazing. Got the puck on net for flurry of goals to get it to ot, then the winner, nice. Gm 5 tonight, will be watching, keep it going and on to next rd.

It’s not like they’re in Cleveland, anyway.

Thanks for showing those entire clips. Playoff hockey is fun hockey. It seems that some teams do better than others without live fans.

And don’t worry, if there is any team that can out-choke the Leafs, it’s the team named after a defeated First Nations chief.

@quinn , It was a hard one to watch. Columbus has an absolutely suffocating defensive style against high scoring teams.  The re-match between them and Tampa will be interesting.

Have no idea when the next season picks up but wondering what’s changes or if will see and to the core. Col. Yeah, they played great, post gm comment heard by captain, brotherhood, after watching em against leafs, did peaked my interest in upcoming series. Not sure if be watching the other gms, looks like lot of other good match ups. Wanna see how this Az team does, Av’s, and team from young a flyers and Montreal but yeah they right there again could break through, col with the shutout.  Hopefully get to see one of these yrs for Toronto btw on edit, think there some kind of draft thing going on today, haven’t followed it but maybe that could be good, idk.
