I never read the author’s novels (Gardner), and never saw any re-make of it after Raymond Burr’s 1950 series…. This one is produced by Robert Downey, Jr. & wife, and it really does much to take you back to a period (1932 great depression era). Initially, it got my attention because of its’ stars (Matthew Rhys, who was Phillip Jennings in The Americans) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), but it puts the story of how the rough crackerjack alcohol drinking Mason goes from detective work and beyond.  I’m hooked…

I would love that!! I love depression era stories, legal plots, and lawyer-investigators.

There was a story on NPR about this series. I’ll try to find it for you and post it here.

      I don’t think I get HBO but I might.

One of the reasons we added HBO to basic cable last year is because I wanted to see the last two episodes of Chernobyl. We had seen episodes 1 thru 8 with a visit to friends who are great history buffs.

I hope you can see it, @NJCher.
