There’s a collective insanity around Ukraine. I suspect many are just using whatever they can to distract and distort, but I also suspect there are others who are genuinely excited about these “victories.” I sent the article to my CBC friend who wrote back that some of her Ukrainians colleagues were high-fiving about this and are planning a…[Read more]

It’s really hard to believe this isn’t satire. The quotes from the Ukrainians are laughable, but I especially like this line:
Ukrainian ethnologist and historian Olena Shcherban, who studies borscht and has 365 of its unique recipes from all over Ukraine in her private collection…..
Interesting use of the word “unique.”

Back 2011 or so, I visited Iceland. When I travel alone, I love hanging out in, well, local hangouts and chatting with the, uh, locals. 😉 Anyway, at the time, the Icelandic government was considering joining the EU. The citizens were overwhelmingly opposed. I wanted to know why, so I asked every stranger who was willing to engage in…[Read more]

More than 100 towns in the Po valley have been asked to ration water amid the worst drought to affect Italy’s longest river in 70 years.
Northern Italy has been deprived of significant rainfall for months, with the effects of drought along the 400-mile (650km) Po River, which stretches from the Alps in the north-west and flows through the Po d…[Read more] -

Ugh. That sounds painful. I hope it wasn’t your dominant hand.
A few weeks ago I had an embarrassing fall and managed to dislocate several bones in my non-dominant hand. Thankfully no fracture, but the recovery time and inability to use my hand put me behind schedule on a number of projects.
So I wish you a speedy and relatively painless…[Read more]

Google openly censoring searches? in the forum Computers and Technology 9 months ago
Interesting. I’m not having any problems now with the VPN disabled, and I had no problems until recently. I hate when things change for no obvious reason, especially as I just don’t have the time or patience anymore to properly investigate the issue. Oh well.
I stopped using duckduckgo when the CEO announced that they were going to “down-rank…[Read more]

Thanks, @mrdmk. I do have a VPN and I’ve not run into this problem before. Oh well. Guess I better work on my pattern matching skills. 🙂

Anyone else seeing this message recently? I’ve been getting it multiple times a day when I search on google. It started when I tried to show my sister all the articles about Ukrainian Nazis. Then I got it when searching for articles that talked about the Clinton-Trump relationship and how the Clintons pushed Trump to run, and later when I tried to…[Read more]

I’m probably in the minority here, but I recently realized I didn’t know much about the harridan currently starring opposite VZ in the popular Ukraine-Russia reality series. So I decided to do a little digging.
First thing that stood out (on the Wikipedia page) was the fact that she’s stinking rich and descended from slave-holders. Second thing…[Read more]

This dental site has some home treatment suggestions. Personally, I’ve found clove oil to be the most effective. Start by diluting it 50% with olive oil or some other food-grade oil. It’s usually pretty safe undiluted, but always best to start slow. If you can’t get clove oil, you can make a paste using clove powder, or just put a whole clove on…[Read more]

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s troops are deserting their leader’s illegal and ill-fated war in Ukraine, which commenced on Thursday, February 24th.

My sister-in-law and her partner are both Hillbot nutjobs. She actually bought a pantsuit to wear when she voted for HRC, and both she and her partner own multiple pussy hats. Don’t mention it because they don’t believe it. And they don’t believe it with a passion I can only dream of. They go from condescension to rage faster than you can say Nazi. My partner was recently told by his sister that she can no longer talk with him because she thinks he’s been brainwashed (by me) and is dangerous. This is because when she…[Read more]

I like how they list the Guardian under the statement “Get the book the whole world’s talking about.” While it’s true they’re talking about it, they’re not saying anything nice. In fact, in the only article about it (a single review), they make a point of mentioning that the preprint was sent to them “unsolicited. ” 😄
