Yanath replied to the topic Nestlé cannot claim bottled water is 'essential public service', court rules in the forum General Discussion 3 days ago
I grew up in Pecos Texas, where the water tastes like caliche; the worst I’ve ever tasted. Filtered, it was acceptable, and one tended to become accustomed.
The plastic bottles are my problem.
The best place to buy water here in North Texas, is to bring your own containers to one of those little self-serve stations that all over the…[Read more]

Ohio Barbarian replied to the topic Another ‘deplorables’ moment? Surging in Democrat polls, Buttigieg calls all Trump supporters racist in the forum General Discussion 4 days ago
@gamemeat Or they enjoy feeling smugly superior by sitting atop their moral high horses and disparaging the different groups of voters who refuse to support their political groupie faddish candidate of the moment.
That way, they don’t have to think about solid policy issues that might make them or their circle of friends uncomfortable. It’s a…[Read more]

Ohio Barbarian replied to the topic Michael Harriot: Pete Buttigieg Called Me. Here's What Happened. in the forum General Discussion 1 week ago
@gamemeat Most of my internet time is spent on this site, a few news or opinions sites, many of which I crosspost here, and a few good progressive YouTube and opinion sites. I get most of my information about places like The Root right here on JPR, from people like you, and I appreciate that. Hell, I’d never heard of Alex Jones until I came…[Read more]

Ohio Barbarian replied to the topic Michael Harriot: Pete Buttigieg Called Me. Here's What Happened. in the forum General Discussion 1 week ago
@gamemeat Thanks for the info. I did not know anything about The Root’s history, though I am very familiar with the formula for high ratings as you describe it. Trump does the same thing; he just uses other emotionally-charged issues. My initial reaction was–Well, DUH! Of course Buttigieg is a lying elitist motherfucker! That’s been obvious from…[Read more]

@gamemeat Krystal Ball and Saagar the rational conservative agree with you:
Ayup. Seems to me this here Root fella isn’t all that consistent himself, doesn’t it? In the end, he folded up like a cheap suit when confronted, and I can understand why some would see his first post as slanderous and defamatory. OTOH,…[Read more]

Charles replied to the topic Tom Steyer to Michael Bloomberg: Back a wealth tax or drop out of 2020 presidential race in the forum General Discussion 1 week ago
You may be correct. Steyer could be a charlatan. I will give him the benefit of the doubt at this point but it’s certainly healthy to be skeptical.
As for Steyer co-opting Bernie’s issues it’s been said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Bernie is the original and the one with decades of public service showing his…[Read more]

Charles replied to the topic Tom Steyer to Michael Bloomberg: Back a wealth tax or drop out of 2020 presidential race in the forum General Discussion 1 week ago
Steyer’s public support of a wealth tax has the potential to add credibility to Bernie’s campaign and issues. Voters are now given another voice from a person that is directly affected by a wealth tax saying it isn’t terrible and that he’s on board.
He’s not one of these billionaires that’s crying, saying it’s crazy to even…[Read more]

Charles replied to the topic Ady Barken: Why I’m Endorsing Elizabeth Warren in the forum General Discussion 2 weeks ago
I agree that we should push for M4All day 1.
As to the ease of getting 50 votes rather than the 60 needed for M4All I’m not seeing that as equivalent. Sure the establishment will move goal posts. But at the of the day if the votes aren’t there for M4All then we should push for a plan “B”.
But it should be exactly that. A plan…[Read more]

djean111 replied to the topic Krystal Ball: Tulsi Gabbard surges, is she the most electable? in the forum General Discussion 3 weeks ago
I am pretty much with you. The h-1b visa thing shows a lack of care for workers in the US, really. I don’t think there is any chance whatsoever of Gabbard getting the nomination, though. Personally, “electability” is not on my list of what I want in a candidate. And I will stick with Bernie. Bernie or Green, depending on how thin…[Read more]

In FACT!
I might have to check with IT and Engineering to see if they bought stuff from this company.

@gamemeat That is a good point. This case happened exactly as how you described it. Yah, when and where do you draw the line about smearing? Probably somewhere between being called a Russian asset and having a youthful indiscretion like this exposed.
Still, Jimmy Dore’s headline is deliberately misleading, but he is a Tulsi supporter and, IMHO,…[Read more]
