soryang replied to the topic 'Hell on earth': Ukrainian soldiers describe eastern front (Via AP news wire) in the forum General Discussion 4 hours ago
I’ve been thinking about this quite a bit, and my preferred personal reaction would be one of emphasizing survival not delusion. This is how I was trained, and beyond that what I have learned from studying a lot of military materials and records. I think a reasonable reaction to be placed in war time distress or other survival situation…[Read more]

David the Gnome replied to the topic How do you determine sentience? in the forum General Discussion 1 week ago
It has actually been passed by chatbots on more than one occasion.
In some of the discussions I’ve read, people suggest that the Turing test is too simple. Whether that is an indicator of a flawed test though, or more a question about how certain we are we can determine sentience…
It is a question that has many possible answers, but I…[Read more]

Any idea what the Ukrainians used to hit the rigs in Odessa? Just curious if it was those missile launchers the U.S. sent them.

Just last month I saw for the first time some dude in a Vape store behind the counter with a sidearm. I called Lane County Sheriff’s office and they told me, yes, it’s legal. Was not like that in 1997.

At least he didn’t say “game changer” today! I thought it was pretty good too.

Thanks @jbnw
I had guessed the first paragraph was their original inventory. Tremendous losses.

soryang replied to the topic Scott Ritter was great today on Judging Freedom in the forum General Discussion 3 weeks ago
So your first paragraph numbers are their cumulative original numbers, what they still have or what they have lost? I couldn’t access your link, probably because I’m too dumb to figure out how.

@jbnw Thanks I did watch that one earlier today, and I’ve seen one or two other of commentaries. I’m just wondering why he’s lumped with in with Richard Haas, and the others.

Boots on the ground, army, air strikes, that sort of thing. I could have worded it better though.

In other words, get off your ass and do something about it.
But if most people have an education, and follow national or political events, most would have a clear picture of what needs to be done-especially those who have followed this issue for many years.

soryang replied to the topic Ukraine Is LOSING US SUPPORT – Brian Berletic Of The New Atlas in the forum Multimedia 3 weeks ago
Yes, the analysts with the military background approach this too coldly. I admit I’m a former military analyst. But like you, I have a strong connection to another country embroiled in US machinations that may lead to war again so I often feel the same way.

soryang replied to the topic Ukraine Is LOSING US SUPPORT – Brian Berletic Of The New Atlas in the forum Multimedia 3 weeks ago
I think Brian has indicated quite emphatically, that Ukraine won’t be reconstituting any new army to fight Russia. He also emphasizes there won’t be a “weapons fix” because the human resources aren’t there.
Perhaps my comments about Ritter’s analysis are misleading. He thinks the weapons supply train is somehow going to save Ukraine.…[Read more]

@jbnw I’d like to think my nephew in Krakow is still helping refugees, as that is what he reported by limited Facebook accounts.
I’m imagining a white light of protection surrounding all your family.
