All he remembers is the good old days of the cold war. I suspect he really believes that will fix the economy. Too much money spent on wars is a good part of what happened to our economy – placing all the wealth in the laps of the rich and killing off the middleclass economy.

just look at the corporate takeover of our government in the last 40 years. We tend to forget that both Germany and Italy favored corporations over citizens during the Nazi years.

Most of my own family are enrollees. Those who are not are still practicing Natives. I do understand why so many white Americans do not want us to teach the true history in our schools any more. But if they think doing that is going to make us forget they have a think coming.

This is one of the most damming lists of our nation I have ever seen and it does not even include what we have done to our own citizens. I am thinking about Native Americans.

jwirr replied to the topic What Would Happen if We Stopped Using Plastic? in the forum General Discussion 9 months ago
I remember the glass milk bottles. We have a lot of options – metal cans, glass, boxes, paper bags. We just have a fossil fuel industry that makes money off of plastics. I wonder how many states in the US do not have any more room for this nonsense?

jwirr replied to the topic What Would Happen if We Stopped Using Plastic? in the forum General Discussion 9 months ago
we are asking a question that deals with all of us. I try to avoid plastics as much as possible. Sodas can be bought in cans which can be recycled. But the water industry has not even touched this issue. Almost all household items are sold in heavy plastic. We need to start doing something about this. And please, no more lies from the plastics industry.

We send weapons to most of the world and then are surprised at the wars we create. And we have been doing that since Korea if not before.

And there is no talk about third parties or better candidates. I think the most likely reaction will be for everyone who ever called themselves a D to just stop voting and that will also be no answer.

It is not just their workers that get hurt. My grandson’s wife orders a water from them monthly and it is way too heavy to lift. The mail man has a terrible time with it and so do we. No one wants to carry it. The mail man said that they are supposed to use a device to help with it but the mail trucks have no room for it. We have to get it up some…[Read more]

And that may just be the beginning. I have at least two young families that are not going to have any children because this is no kind of world to bring children to and what is so surprising is that all of us older members of the family agree. Economic issues – especially the difference between rich and poor – health issues with a failing…[Read more]

Liberals are full of shit! At the age of 80 I remember my history and they have totally forgotten it. Fools. They want to continue the bull they have been helping the Rs achieve since 1980 and keep the corporations in power. So they find reasons to tell these lies. They are going to be damned lucky if any of us even try to go to vote since they…[Read more]

jwirr replied to the topic Many predicted Nato expansion would lead to war. Those warnings were ignored in the forum General Discussion 1 year ago
I hear what you are saying but we only have to take another close look at the Middle East countries to see that their hope of freedom if it leads to war will totally destroy them. I suspect that Mexico understands their desire to not be on anyone’s border. I just do not think that war is going to help them feel any happier because in the end they…[Read more]

jwirr replied to the topic Many predicted Nato expansion would lead to war. Those warnings were ignored in the forum General Discussion 1 year ago
We forget that the countries that are going into Nato now have always been a buffer between the East and the West. To move these countries into Nato is to open a clear threat to the entire Russian border. Stop for a minute and ask yourself what we would be feeling if that was happening on our northern and southern borders?
