Anyone who’s ever had chickenpox is vulnerable to the same set of viruses, which probably never really left, re-awakening usually much later with the far worse game-plan called shingles.
That person may have had shingles sometime in his 93 years, before, and I’d say certainly had chickenpox as a child.
I don’t think I’ve seen shingles outbreak…[Read more] -

Still second hand (haven’t entered the compete-to-get-vaxed field yet for multiple reasons, may never–I have fear of Covid and distrust of the vaxes): Oldest person in my extended family is 93, has had numerous life-threatening conditions, like the fluid in lungs due to weak circulation. So, calculating that he’s a goner if he gets Covid, he…[Read more]

I laughed out loud when I even read just the subject line: “one-on-one with Bill Clinton to discuss empowering women and girls.” Thanks for enhancement of the jollity, coming from the discussion here.
Maybe Bill is religious after all and thinks that a few gold stars now will placate the angels soon to conduct his life review and counter-balance…[Read more] -

Second-hand but accurate: One person close to me got the vax 2 days ago, reported arm still sore a day later, and that she’s never had a lingering sore arm after a shot. Said she had some weakness and eye migraine (which she’d had pretty often before, so wasn’t very worried). Another person, who got the J. and J. the same day: Reported bad…[Read more]

People in KC, Mo. were told to turn their thermostats down to 65 F and that if that doesn’t do enough to reserve the dwindling supply, I guess of fuel for power plants, there could be rolling blackouts of half an hour at a time.
When I heard about rolling blackouts first hand from a Texan this morning, in their state they were told it was because…[Read more] -
MackMarkstein replied to the topic Pelosi announces plans for 9/11-style commission to examine Capitol riot in the forum Latest Breaking News 2 months ago
I envisioned that headline, “Pelosi announces 9/11-style commission” in a very cynical moment as something that’s possible, and would be par for the course.
But now it’s reality!
Just one time they should ask the taxpayers before “announcing.”
Shows you how out of it Pelosi is, but she’s been proving that via almost everything, including the…[Read more] -

I think that’s more of a motivating factor among Rethugs than a reality, as I’d expect Drumpf’s steroids and probably meth plus anger plus not good nutrition will catch up with him. As for Drumpf dynasty, maybe a faction of R.’s including patriotic Beavises and Buttheads will continue to think Donald Drumpf was cheated out of a landslide and…[Read more]

MackMarkstein replied to the topic Oath Keepers Plotting Before Capitol Riot Awaited ‘Direction’ From Trump, Prosecutors Say in the forum General Discussion 2 months ago
This seems like a good *start* of an investigation, of any linkage between Trump Himself, inner circle of loonies, etc. to the organized activity of Jan. 6. But the Dems seem not ready to offer that in an impeachment trial.
Connections could include: To maybe Donald’s favorite underworld lieutenant, Stone (who was pardoned on Dec. 23). Maybe…[Read more] -

Haven’t been listening to that much of the impeachment trial, but one alleged dot to be connected is that those Oath Keepers said they were waiting for Trump to say go, regarding their perceived mission.
It’s upsetting that murderers and would-be murderers are often delusional and it’s also upsetting that these people had military training and…[Read more] -

If that new buzzword comes from The Government or the MSM (which is basically the Government), are they trying not to say “means testing?” If that’s the case, I don’t blame them for trying not to say “means testing”, since the Public has probably smartened up a bit during the last few decades about the evil behind that phrase. Haven’t read much about this proposal yet, but it seems to pull out some of the scammery in the CARES act, which is the kind of thing Dems *should* be doing just about now, Dems who are not Uniparty Oligawk servants.

From what I can tell, part of the unique nature of these current alt-right militia groups that are capable of actual violence is: First you notice they deal in nonsensical words and phrases, Hawaiian shirts, etc. Dangerous overall.
